Position Overview
The rail/transit systems Testing & Commissioning (T&C) Engineer is responsible for testing, commissioning and all related activities as required by the project and Kiewit’s internal and external customers. The position is expected to operate with minimum supervision and will collaborate with a team of engineers or the third-party engineering contractors, and suppliers as required. This position will also provide mentorship to the mid-level and the entry-level engineers as needed.

Location
This position is based out of our Lone Tree, CO location with opportunity to work a hybrid work schedule.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical support to all Project Manager(s) and Technical Manager(s) as required to support KIE initiatives.
- Provide input as required to the “Get Work” teams related to installation, testing and commissioning activities in the pursuit of new projects.
- Develop project specific Installation, Testing and Commissioning Plans, and Strategies for projects as required.
- Prepare/Review/Approve all test procedures, Job Specific Risk Assessments, Work Package Plans, and Method Statements as required.
- Provide guidance to project staff on completion of installation and testing activities and their relationship to the Safety Certification Process
- Provide T&C expertise to projects to advise, help, and resolve T&C issues as required.
- Continuously review and advise on the testing schedules at each project level.
- Ensure that any sub-contracted testing work is managed in a professional, cost-effective manner.
- Ensure that all project testing activities are compliant with all applicable standards including, but not limited to, ANSI / IEEE, AREMA, CENELEC and NEMA standards as required.
- Providing advice on the levels and proposed levels of resources assigned to meet project commitments.
- Positively influences construction, testing & commissioning, and safety performance that aims for zero accidents.
- Provide technical support to all Commercial Manager(s) and ensure testing strategies and all Engineering design change requests, delays, disruption, completion, defects, or other commercial aspects are understood and processed in a timely manner.
- Maintain effective communications with all project participants to ensure contract delivery is on time and within budget.
- Develop and maintain constructive, co-operative working relationships with the Customer and external approved suppliers to ensure the success of the project. While promoting this approach within team members and colleagues.
- Take an active role in the local coaching of junior / less experienced staff to ensure the developmental needs of both the individual and the business are achieved.
- Maintain a flexible approach to work, while demonstrating the ability to prioritize and manage your time efficiently.
- Demonstrate and focus a strong commitment to Quality, detail, and ability to make correct judgments.
- Participate in Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Factory Integration Testing (FIT) and Field / Site Acceptance Testing (F-SAT), System Integration Testing (SIT) as required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, or related discipline is preferred.
- Professional Engineering Registration or Chartered Engineer preferred .
- Membership with active participation to professional organizations such as AREMA or APTA is desirable.
- Minimum 5 years of progressive work experience and thorough understanding of the following, but not limited to;
- Train control system design, construction, testing and commissioning.
- Train control system maintenance
- Project engineering
- Rail and transit operation
- Design standards and safety regulations
- Understanding of project Requirements and project closeout
- Basic to intermediate understanding of other subsystems such as Communications, Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition/ SCADA, Traction power, Tunnel Ventilation, On-Board, Auxiliary Electrical Systems, and Mechanical-Electrical (MEP)
- Intermediate to advanced understanding of On-Board/ Wayside Interface
- Intermediate to advanced understanding of Train Control technologies such as: Automatic Train Control (ATC), Positive Train Control (PTC), and Communications-Based Train Control (CBTC)
- Systems Engineering & Systems Integration
- Ability to travel as business requires. #LI-MD1

Base Compensation: $100,000 - $130,000
(Actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as education, experience, skillset, and/or location)
