Position Overview

Kiewit is seeking a Microsoft Transact SQL (T-SQL) Developer with expertise in troubleshooting and supporting custom applications as well as building new systems. The successful candidate will be responsible for writing complex SQL queries, ensuring their stability, reliability, and performance, and collaborating with other team members and stakeholders to meet business needs.

This is a remote opportunity based out of Kansas.

Responsibilities

•    Design and Develop Database Structures: Design and implement new database systems based on project requirements.  Database structures to include tables, indexes, views, functions, and stored procedures.
•    Write Complex SQL Queries: Develop, implement, and optimize stored procedures, functions, and triggers using T-SQL.
•    Database Performance: Ensure the performance, security, and availability of databases.
•    Data Management Support: Provide data management support including data extraction and load of data related to engineering and construction.
•    Collaboration: Work closely with product owners, business analysts, corporate database analysts, and other developers to meet business needs.
•    Documentation: Prepare documentation and specifications for database design, coding, and testing.
•    Performance Tuning: Analyze existing SQL queries for performance improvements and optimize database systems for efficiency.
•    Problem Resolution: Identify potential problems and provide solutions in a timely manner.
•    Stay Updated: Keep up with recent technological advancements and industry trends in database development.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, information Systems, or a related field
Experience:
•    3+ years of experience in SQL Server development.
•    Strong knowledge of Transact-SQL (T-SQL), including stored procedures, functions, and triggers.
•    Experience with database design, data modeling, and normalization.
•    Familiarity with SQL Server tools (e.g., SSMS, Profiler, DTA).
Skills:
•    Proficient in writing and optimizing SQL queries withing the context of stored procedures
•    Ability to design and implement database schemas.
•    Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
•    Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
•    Knowledge of performance tuning and optimization techniques.
•    Understanding of data security and privacy principles.
