Position Overview

Sr. Weld Quality Engineer/Specialist is responsible for executing Project Supplier Quality requirements on the Project as per the Clients requirements liaising with supplier fabrication site, project team and coordinate inspections. They will be the point contact for the Suppliers for Quality on the Project and interact with other disciplines, Engineering, Procurement and Project Management. This is an office-based position, but there will be a requirement for the individual to travel up to 40% of this time both domestic and international as needed.

Responsibilities

•    Review and approval of project specific Supplier Quality and manufacturing documents including Quality plans, ITP, WPS/PQR, WPQ, Weld maps, PWHT procedures, NDE procedures, MTRs etc. against codes, standards, and technical specifications. 
•    Act as welding, NDE, PWHT and materials Subject Matter expert on ASME and AWS codes for the department. 
•    Facilitate resolution of non-conformances. 
•    Track, manage and resolve supplier nonconformities & quality issues. 
•    Ensure client quality requirements are met as set forth in project specifications
•    Inspect or support assigned inspectors to ensure pressure vessels, equipment, piping, structural fabrications, and equipment are to code and project requirements
•    Ensure alignment of inspection and expediting activities
•    Review and approval of Supplier manufacturing records
•    Preparation of Project Specific Quality Documents such as instructions, checklists etc.
•    Perform Supplier Audits
•    Review and approve Supplier deviation requests / disposition technical queries related to Quality
•    Coordinate with Supplier, Customer & TPI for witness and hold inspection points per project ITPs
•    Review and approval of the final documentation package / data book
•    Undertake training as required
•    Assist or act as supplier quality lead on assigned projects
•    Support other tasks as assigned by Manager. 

Qualifications

•    Knowledge of the design and fabrication requirements of packaged process units
•    Be able to read fabrication drawings for pressure vessels, piping, and structural fabrications
•    Strong knowledge of ASME and AWS code particularly welding requirements
•    Knowledge of code inspection and NDE requirements
•    Must be able to communicate in a professional manner
•    Ability to review project and customer technical specifications and incorporate the requirements into Project Quality Plans and ITP’s
•    Experience with Supplier surveillance and review & approval of Quality documentation such as WPS/ PQRs, Weld maps, WPQs, NDE reports, various test reports and material certificates
•    Worked with a medium to heavy manufacturing facility with machining, welding, and assembly processes
•    Knowledge of various materials of construction.
•    Experience in oil, gas, refinery, power generation and/or water processing projects 
•    Required to be fully numerate and computer literate (MS Office)
•    Good communication and technical report writing skills 
•    Bachelor’s degree in weld engineering, metallurgy, or similar discipline plus 10 years of related industry experience or Associates degree with minimum of 15 years of related experience.
•    Desired skills:
     o   Quality Auditing
     o    ISO 9001:2015 experience
     o    AWS CWI, CWEng or similar certification
