We offer a variety of engineering services, including owner's engineering, project development, detailed engineering and design, construction management and plant services. Our engineering teams bring power projects to life across North America in the following areas:

Location

This position is based out of our Lenexa, KS office. 

Responsibilities

  • Constructability Review – responsible for ensuring that all constructability reviews are happening and being incorporated into the estimate
  • Hard Dollar – responsible to make sure all information is entered into Hard 
  • Dollar and that the information entered is accurate 
  • Takeoffs – responsible for assigning all takeoff activities to the team members and responsible for the review and accuracy of the takeoffs 
  • Quantity Comparison – responsible for coordinating and ensuring that the quantity comparison is completed with the second estimate team 
  • Subcontracts and Permanent Material – responsible for ensuring that all Subcontracts and Permanent Material quotes are issued and reviewed on schedule 
  • Labor – responsible for determining the pre-review labor rates, with input from Discipline (Mechanical in this case) Department Manager and Assistant 
  • Discipline (Mechanical in this case) Department Manager, to be used on the estimates 
  • Design – responsible for ensuring that all engineering deliverables are produced, checked and issued to the estimate team on schedule 
  • Engineered Equipment, Subcontracts and Permanent Materials 
  • Responsible to determine source of cost estimate for Engineered Equipment, Subcontracts, and Permanent Materials (quote vs historical) - including evaluation of applicability and age of historical data 
  • Responsible for ensuring that all specifications have been produced, checked and sent to procurement to be sent out for pricing on schedule 
  • Responsible for development (in collaboration with the Procurement Lead) of a QCS for each equipment, subcontract, and permanent material estimate (both quoted and historical) 
  • Ensure design satisfies RFP obligations 
  • Coordinate any value engineering concepts into the proposal clarifications, as applicable 
  • Verify that all termination points with Owner supplied utilities are properly defined and coordinated by completing the utility interface schedule and project site plan (SP) drawing(s) 
  • Review Books – responsible for ensuring that all estimate review books are completed and prepared for all reviews 
  • EPC Proposal Documentation – assist Estimate Manager in preparing information/documentation for EPC bids including red-lines of the RFP documents, clarifications and/or exceptions, and any other documentation/information to support the proposal documentation 
  • Travel to project sites to collect data, as required 
  • Attend project proposal/kickoff/constructability meetings at client offices or KEGI, as required 
  • Coordinate with the KP Startup Group for preparation and review of the Startup estimate 
  • Project Support – coordinate mechanical equipment and design with other disciplines 
  • Project Performance and Guarantees
  • Coordinate finalization of heat balances and plant performance with Performance Group 
  • Coordinate finalization of mass and/or water balances with Environmental Group 
  • Ensure completion of plant noise evaluation 
  • Assist Estimate Manager with required inputs for the  development of Performance Guarantees 
  • Assist Mechanical Department Manager in developing and maintaining standard tools 
  • Assist Mechanical Department Manager in developing any Departmental Initiatives 
  • Report the to the Mechanical Department Manager

Qualifications

  • At least 7 years’ experience in mechanical engineering and design. Experience in the power industry, electrical utilities or industrial markets, would be advantages, but not required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering in Mechanical Engineering program from an ABET accredited four-year college or university program.  Some masters’ coursework preferred
  • PE license preferred.
