Safety Coordinator - Kiewit Power Constructors

Position Overview

As a Safety Coordinator, you’ll be part of a team implementing and overseeing the Project Safety Program including the development of site safety policies and procedures. You’ll assist in monitoring the activities of construction projects, insuring the facility's compliance with pertinent governmental regulations, company policies and procedures. You’ll assist in determining the cause of unsafe conditions and injury claims through procedure, equipment, facilities inspection and worker observation. Providing corrective action recommendations and assisting in implementing metrics for tracking and reporting on performance issues will also fall within your responsibilities.

Kiewit Power Constructors (KPC) provides direct-hire construction services for Power Generation utilizing a union craft force.  Kiewit Power Constructors builds major EPC power plant projects throughout North America.

Responsibilities

•    Assist in planning, organizing and implementing district Safety Management Programs at industrial construction projects.
•    Conduct safety training, job safety analysis, workplace audits and incident response as needed.
•    Embody the Kiewit approach to safety, being constantly aware of conditions and work practices, being empowered to stop all unsafe work when needed.

Qualifications

•    Construction safety training (Certification preferred) plus two or more years’ construction safety experience related to piping, electrical and heavy industrial commissioning
•    Ability to work in outdoor work environment and around related equipment.
•    Willingness to relocate to project sites across the USA for an extended period of time.

Working Conditions

•  Fast-paced project site and project office environment
•  Working outdoors in varying ambient temperatures 
•  Must be able to interact professionally with all levels of craft, staff and management while simultaneously managing a diversified workload and challenging situations efficiently and effectively
•  Regularly sit, stand, walk and talk and listen; occasionally lift and move up objects up to 30 pounds.
