Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Preconstruction & Program Manager to support and enhance our vertical construction market initiatives. This role will be instrumental in identifying new trade partners, tracking market trends, supporting estimating and contract administration, and contributing to the overall success of our preconstruction efforts. The ideal candidate will bring industry insight, relationship-building skills, and a proactive mindset to help drive growth and operational excellence.

District Overview

Kiewit Building Group specializes in constructing office buildings, industrial complexes, education and sports facilities, hotels, hospitals, transportation terminals, science and technology facilities, manufacturing, retail and special-use facilities and extensive interior construction with tenant improvements. Its capabilities include general construction, construction management, design-build, design-assist and turn-key project development.  Kiewit also provides fast, accurate preconstruction project management services.   

Location

This position will be based out of the Kiewit hub in Lenxa, KS. 

Some travel will be required for pursuits in other geographical regions and offices. 

Responsibilities

Market Expansion & Trade Partner Development:
Identify and engage new subcontractors and trade partners in emerging and existing markets.
Build and maintain strong relationships with industry professionals to support project needs and long-term partnerships.
Market Intelligence & Opportunity Tracking:
Monitor industry trends, upcoming projects, and client activity across our market sectors.
Provide regular updates and strategic insights to leadership and business development teams.
Preconstruction & Estimating Support:
Assist with general estimating tasks including quantity takeoffs, bid evaluations, and proposal development.
Collaborate with estimating and operations teams to ensure alignment with project goals and budgets.
Contract Administration:
Support the preparation, review, and tracking of contracts and related documentation.
Ensure compliance with internal standards and project-specific requirements.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Work closely with internal departments including business development, operations, and project management.
Execute additional tasks and initiatives as directed by

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in preconstruction, estimating, or construction project management
  • Strong knowledge of vertical construction markets and subcontractor networks
  • Proven ability to analyze market data and identify strategic opportunities
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and organizational skills
  • Proficiency in construction management software and tools (e.g., Procore, Bluebeam, Excel)
