Position Overview
Kiewit Power is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to join our Engineering Team that is focused on the carbon-free technologies such as Small Modular Reactors. The Electrical Design Engineer functions in a mid-level engineering capacity performs all aspects of conventional and nuclear design engineering. The engineer in this position must have an aptitude for practical engineering, a willingness to immerse oneself in the position and rapidly learn the business, ability to work with little supervision, have strong leadership skills, and be willing to travel periodically.

Location
This position is based out of our Lenexa, KS. Remote candidates considered.
Responsibilities
- Perform integrated engineering processes to fulfill project requirements and achieve target dates.
- Author and review designs, specifications, analyses, and drawings in compliance with engineering principles and applicable standards.
- Prepare and review design concept drawings for equipment using input from various technical disciplines.
- Recognizes, defines, and resolves problems within assigned area
- Compliance with strict quality assurance standards and on time delivery
- Travel (less than 20% of time)
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited, four-year university.
- Knowledge, application, and understanding of IEEE design codes related to nuclear facilities.
- Capability and willingness to assume full responsibility for project tasks.
- Excellent attention to detail and capability for producing error-free documents.
- Excellent communication, organizational, interpersonal, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of engineering design practices and principles (e.g. separation criteria, interference checks, etc.)
- Experience with using IEEE industry codes to develop equipment design.
- Experience in the preparation of load flow, short-circuit analysis, motor starting, battery calculation, arc flash, protective relay calculations, electrical distribution equipment sizing, load list development, and cable sizing.
