Position Overview
Kiewit Nuclear Solutions is seeking a Mechanical Process Engineer to join our Engineering Team. The Mechanical Process Engineer functions in a mid-level engineering capacity and must have an aptitude for practical engineering, a willingness to immerse one’s self in the position and rapidly learn the business, ability to work with little supervision, have strong leadership skills, and be willing to travel periodically.

Location
The position is located in Lenexa, KS or Oak Ridge, TN.
Responsibilities

Design & Analysis:
- Perform piping analysis for new-generation nuclear and DOE projects.
- Use AutoPIPE software to conduct stress analysis and prepare analytical reports on piping reactions affecting equipment and structures.
- Reconcile pipe stress reports with as-built conditions.

Code Compliance & Review:
- Interpret and apply relevant code requirements.
- Review proposed piping support systems, identify issues, and recommend cost-effective solutions.

Coordination & Communication:
- Interface with systems, structural, piping design, and support design teams.
- Exchange engineering details with external contacts including suppliers, clients, and contractors.
- Consult with clients on field-related issues and provide follow-up reports or design modifications.

Project Management:
- Manage workload to meet project deadlines and commitments.
- Provide guidance to engineers, project managers, client personnel, and suppliers to ensure complete and timely design delivery.
Qualifications

Education:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering (Engineering Mechanics, Mechanical, Structural, or Aeronautical Engineering).

Experience:
- 5–10 years of experience in nuclear power plant design and/or modification projects.

Technical Skills:
- Proficient in AutoPIPE piping analysis software.
- Working knowledge of ASME Section III (Pressure Vessel and Piping Code) and ASME B31.1 (Power Piping Code).

Soft Skills:
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
