Position Overview
Kiewit Nuclear Solutions is seeking a Mechanical Engineer Intern. We are looking for Ideal candidates to grow the Kiewit team by helping establish, maintain, and improve company standards and tools while also using these standards and tools to contribute to project success. Candidates shall be familiar with current drawing and technical tools, programs, and software with an understanding of design documentation creation and layouts. Candidates shall be capable of exhibiting flexibility in work assignments while maintaining a growth mindset and continuing to develop in their technical and professional career.

Location
This role is in Oak Ridge, TN or Lenexa, KS.
Responsibilities

Help design piping and instrument diagrams (P&IDs) for mechanical systems on nuclear projects

Support preparation of design calculations and specifications for major power plant equipment, such as turbines, boilers, condensers, cooling towers, pumps, air compressors, and water treatment systems

Prepare mechanical engineering layouts, sketches, and conceptual designs

Assist in evaluating vendor bids for technical compliance to support equipment procurement

Coordinate with project team members and review design progress and outcomes
Qualifications

- Currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
- Minimum GPA of 3.0 preferred
- Proficiency in basic computing programs, including Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
- Experience with Bluebeam, AFT Fathom, AFT Arrow, and Bentley AutoPipe software is preferred
- Willingness to perform tasks as needed, including the ability to assist with field walkdowns when required
- Demonstrates written and verbal communication skills
- Must be a US citizen with documentation for badge access
- Pass a security questionnaire and background check appropriate to position duties
