Position Overview

The Material Coordinator II provides project specific support and management for material management and control of all materials at the jobsite. A Material Coordinator II may support the Material Manager on a large project or be the leader of the material operations on a smaller project.  Requirements of this position include significant interaction with construction staff, capabilities for handling and maintaining materials, and proficiencies with advanced software.  Long-term relocation and short-term field assignments are a requirement of this position. The position is operational in nature dealing significantly with field issues at active projects.

Responsibilities

  • Promote a safety-first mentality and culture.  
  • Control and involvement of receipt, storage, and issuance of project materials.  
  • Assist in the completion of project mobilization and/or demobilization effort.  
  • Assist Material Manager on field material handling activities. 
  • Prepare and distribute material management specific reports to project staff. (Daily Doc, OSD&E, MRR, PO, etc.)  
  • Promote material control plan and communicate material management procedures to project team. 
  • Perform receiving and processing functions on varying size of projects.  
  • Provide project support for staff interfacing with site management and vendors, subcontractors, and service providers. 
  • Represent the company in logistical negotiations and coordination with suppliers. 
  • Track and coordinate OSD&E resolution  
     

Qualifications

  • BA degree or least three-five years’ experience in industrial construction related role 
  • Demonstrate the ability to manage and maintain advanced material handling software and databases 
  • Working knowledge of site purchasing, execution, estimating and their impact on material management 
  • Knowledge of the project goals and how to contribute to those goals 
  • Ability to participate in project work planning 
  • Working knowledge of prime contract requirements for project execution  
  • Possess the ability to track equipment, materials, labor budgets, trends, and forecasts 
  • Ability to utilize reporting skills including monitoring progress curves, developing material and equipment status reports  
  • Possess the ability to coordinate and lead small crew for the safe execution of material handling activities 
  • Must possess strong leadership and management skills  
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to work in teams 
  • Ability to relocate for long and short-term field assignments
