Perform general market research and evaluate market/project opportunities that will drive business direction, decisions, and growth in the industrial sectors (metals & mining, manufacturing, pulp & paper, specialty chemicals, etc.).

This position requires an extensive amount of reading. Successful candidate must be self-motivated to learn new subjects and clearly articulate key concepts.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but not limited to the following:
•    Conduct research and analysis to provide business and market insight.
•    Aggregate and analyze industry, competitors and clients data and prepare Excel based financial models and forecasts.
•    Understand industrial market dynamics; build models to simulate/predict project viability and financial outcome.
•    Act as an internal consultant to the business - successful candidate must be self-motivated to learn new subjects and clearly articulate key concepts.
•    Develop visually compelling presentations with content rich material and with backup data/analysis for use by colleagues and senior leadership.
•    Identify and design research projects as required; fill in gaps in market and organizational intelligence.
•    Assist in establishing the research group as the internal go-to group for thought leadership and expertise around key topics.
•    Collaborate with other groups as appropriate to develop strategic perspective on new markets and technologies.
•    Ad hoc projects as appropriate.


•    BA/BS in finance, economics, or engineering. CFA/MBA candidate preferred.
•    2-5 years of professional experience, preferably in market analysis, financial modeling or consulting.
•    Experience with Excel, Access, Tableau, and/or other data analytics/visualization/statistical packages.
•    Team player.
•    Strong desire to study the industrial markets and take the role of subject matter expert.
•    Self-starter, strong presentation skills, solid interpersonal and communication skills.
•    Exceptional business judgment and analytical awareness.
•    Strong work ethic and professional demeanor; comfortable working with executive management.
•    Willingness to work both independently, and as a team, to meet intense deadlines, goals and objectives.
