Position Overview

At Kiewit, our 30,000 employees are our greatest asset and are keys to our success in helping us to deliver complex engineering and construction projects across North America.  We have an opportunity for a Leave Analyst, to join our team and make a difference in the employee experience.  In this role,  you will be provide end-to-end support to employees in their most personal and sensitive times of their career - leave of absence.  As part of a highly collaborative, consultative and ambitious Leave Team, you will handle a volume of leave cases for the US and Canada, executing day-to-day support, critical to the leave of absence event in the employee lifecycle.  We expect you to be a subject matter expert providing high level employee-focused service to employees, managers and HRBPs.

This position can be based in Omaha, NE, Lenexa, KS, or Houston TX. 

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a primary contact and leave advisor for employees planning and going through the leave process by guiding and educating employees through the pre-education, initiation, handling and closure/return to work phases of the leave.  Manage escalations and resolve issues related to employee leaves.  
  • Maintain working knowledge of current paid/unpaid leave laws and Company specific leaves and remain aware of industry trends and best practices
  • Utilize leave software to complete leave-related tasks by deadline such as the distribution and collection or required forms from the initial employee inquiry to return-to-work
  • Coordinates ADA process with Stakeholders (HRBPs, project sites, etc.)
  • Utilize SAP to enter leave actions and employee time such as PTO/sick-carryover/vacation and appropriate entry/removal of pay additions for any employee going on or coming off of a leave of absence
  • Communicate with vendors as needed to support timely handling of disability claims
  • Collaborate with peers to share learnings, cross-train, leverage best practices, challenge the status quo, drive consistency and deliver operational excellence
  • Provide recommendations for innovation and support continuous improvement efforts to refine and evolve leave processes and improve the employee experience

Qualifications

  • Bachelors in Human Resource/Business Management or 4 years experience in lieu of degree.
  • Minimum of 2+ years of experience working with Leave Management, handling disability benefits and other leaves required by state and/or federal law including The Family Medical Leave Act.  Must have knowledge of Federal, State and local Leave laws that would impact employee leave processes.  
  • Basic investigative and analytical skills sufficient to identify the employee’s need for leave and recommend a leave plan.
  • Proven success with service delivery, evolving the customer experience, process optimization, and leveraging new technology solutions.
  • Results oriented with a high degree of independence, collaboration, resiliencies, curiosity, agility and adaptability.
  • Basic math skills sufficient to calculate benefit overpayments or premiums owed.
  • Understanding of Canadian Leave of Absence and Provincial Laws, preferred.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Basic understanding of SAP is preferred.  Prefer experience with AbsenceSoft or similar software.
