Position Overview
The Lead Supply Chain Specialist – Electrical provides negotiation, training, and high-risk/legal-related support for project procurement and administration activities for Kiewit Corp. In this role, you will interface with key structural suppliers and subcontractors as well as the Kiewit Project Supply Chain Managers, Supply Chain Specialists, Project Managers, Legal Counsel, Supply Chain Directors, and Sponsors for escalated issues.
You will act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on electrical procurement packages for materials and subcontracts, operate as a procurement liaison to the legal department and maintain a high-level working knowledge of multiple projects in the North America. Location
This position is based out of our District Home Office located in Lenexa, Kansas.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain relationships with key vendors for electrical packages.
- Work with Kiewit Category Management to maintain approved vendors list (AVL)
- Review project contract templates related to electrical packages for adherence to project requirements.
- Work with Kiewit Engineering and Construction Professionals on Scope of Work descriptions
- Work with Kiewit Engineering and Construction Professionals to provide Commercial and Technical Bid Evaluations
- Be a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in electrical equipment and commodity costs and lead times
- Develop and/or maintain standard work processes between project engineers and procurement specialists.
- Provide training and mentorship to procurement team on electrical package technical details.
- Assist in negotiating high-risk electrical contracts for various projects.
- Provide negotiation support to project teams.
- Serve as a liaison between the procurement team and engineering team to negotiate and resolve commercial issues and move contracts forward to execution
- Support procurement staff meetings and provide technical details and oversight to the procurement team as needed
- Perform other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor or upper management
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Engineering, Construction Management, Supply Chain Management OR equivalent degree OR military/education experience combination
- Minimum of 5+ years' experience working with key electrical suppliers and subcontractors (Preferred)
- Minimum of 5+ years' of working knowledge of the electrical aspects of industrial facilities
- Minimum of 5+ years' of working knowledge of electrical systems, engineered electrical equipment, or similar work.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access)
- Detail-oriented, highly motivated, effective time management skills, and excellent customer service and relationship-building skills
- Knowledge in risk evaluation, claims mitigation, and dispute resolution.
- Strong leadership and coaching skills
- Must be willing to travel periodically for periods of less than a week
