Position Overview
The Lead Estimator prepares and manages the opportunity throughout the life cycle of the estimating phase. The targeted markets include but are not limited to Nuclear, DOE, and DOD contracts.

Location
This position is based out of Lenexa, KS.
Responsibilities
• Review the RFP and facilitate an estimate kickoff meeting
• Develop and maintain the bid proposal schedule
• Attend pre-job meetings and site walks as necessary
• Schedule and facilitate estimate progress and review meetings
• Coordinate with other internal and external estimating partners
• Work with home office support departments to obtain legal, treasury, environmental, insurance, and tax reviews
• Complete a staff schedule / organizational chart, and a construction equipment schedule
• Obtain craft labor wages for various markets
o Non-Union / Merit Shop
o Davis Bacon / Prevailing Wages
o Local Union Agreements
• Analyze crew structures for composite rate development
• Learn and become a subject matter expert with InEight Estimating software
• Manage discipline estimator / procurement input into the estimate file to meet the company and proposal requirements set forth in the RFP
• Develop an indirect cost estimate
• Run escalation models
• Identify risk and maintain a Risk / Opportunity Log
• Maintain a Clarification and Exception Log
• Assemble reports for all estimate review books
• Build a cash flow schedule, and review with our business group
• Build a Milestone Payment Schedule ranging up to 150-200 payment milestones to meet the project schedule
• Be able to lead an estimate to meet the end deliverable of complex client pricing sheets (ie bid forms, bid tabs, etc)
• Complete T&M sheets for Staff / Craft Labor, and Construction Equipment
• After initial proposal submission, track all post bid changes in an Estimate Road Map ledger
• If a proposal is won, then work with our business group to conform the estimate, and hold an estimate turnover meeting
Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or Engineering / Technology and may be substituted with extensive and related work experience.
• Minimum of 7 years’ experience in heavy industrial construction
• Exceptionally strong attention to detail
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Demonstrate advanced skills with Microsoft Excel
