Position Overview

Kiewit Nuclear Solutions is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our Engineering Team that is focused on the carbon-free technologies such as Small Modular Reactors. The Mechanical Engineer functions in a mid-level engineering capacity performs all aspects of conventional and nuclear design engineering. The engineer in this position must have an aptitude for practical engineering, a willingness to immerse one’s self in the position and rapidly learn the business, ability to work with little supervision, have strong leadership skills, and be willing to travel periodically.

The position is located in Lenexa, KS.

Responsibilities

  • Perform  integrated engineering processes to fulfill project requirements and achieve target dates.
  • Author and review designs, specifications, analyses, and drawings in compliance with engineering principles and applicable standards.
  • Prepare and review design concept drawings for equipment using input from various technical disciplines.
  • Recognizes, defines, and resolves problems within assigned area
  • Compliance with strict quality assurance standards and on time delivery
  • Travel (less than 20% of time)

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited, four-year university.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in design.
  • Knowledge, application and understanding of ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Codes.
  • Excellent attention to detail and capability for producing error-free documents.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, interpersonal, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of engineering design practices and principles (e.g. interference checks, tolerance stack-ups, fits, GD&T)
  • Experience with using industry codes to develop equipment design.
  • Experience working with engineers and fabricators to develop designs and drawings
  • Experience in the preparation of P&ID, PFD, and General Arrangement drawings for skid mounted or permanent equipment packages.
