Position Overview

We are currently seeking an Executive Assistant to join our newly formed Water Markets & Strategy team in Kansas City.  Our Water Market & Strategy team is responsible for all aspects of business development in North America as it relates to the water infrastructure market.  Presently this market represents $1B of annual revenue for Kiewit and the Water M&S team is responsible for accelerating profitable growth to $2.5B in 3 years.  The executive for the team is lead by the SVP of Water M&S to whom this role will report to.  This executive is responsible for a team of sales, commercial managers, marketing and proposal resources throughout North America of which you will support in the day to day management.  This group is comprised of engineers and sales professionals with a high degree of engagement with clients and partners. The executive assistant will be seen as a vital part of this team’s success and assistant in keeping the team at peak function all across North America. In this role, you may at times engage with partners and clients and be the front-line ambassador for Kiewit and our efforts in the market.


In reporting to the executive, the role involves access to highly confidential, strategic, and personal information about the business and personnel therein.  A high degree of trust and integrity is required between the executive and the assistant to achieve a highly coordinated team.  Because the role accommodates multiple time zones and travel arrangements that may need to be altered at all times of the day; a flexibility in availability and understanding will also be a key role in balancing the responsibilities

District Overview

Kiewit Infrastructure Engineering's Design-Build team is driving clients to turn to Kiewit during all stages of design-build projects. Through our integrated design and construction approach, our multi-disciplinary team works together to improve schedule, control costs and minimize risk. Our construction-focused engineers work collaboratively with our estimators and builders to design solutions that are innovative, constructible, and designed with a focus on safety. Clients benefit from the proven processes and tools used by Kiewit to minimize project risk. We are an in-house resource that supports projects throughout the company. Our staff shares experiences gained, innovative concepts, and best practices for all projects that we support. 


This position is based in Lenexa, Kansas with some travel.


Includes, but is not necessarily limited to the following.

  • Directly manage the executive’s calendar, travel and expenses
  • Serve as the go-to person for accessing the executives time from internal and external demands
  • Review, proof and alter presentations, meeting minutes, memo’s and other materials as required for the business
  • Coordinate and arrange meetings including agenda preparation, meeting invitations, reserving, and preparing facilities and resources including virtual conferencing tools
  • Coordinate conference room schedules through Outlook calendar
  • Sort and distribute incoming mail including office deliveries, and address envelopes or packages and prepare courier packages
  • Assist with travel and expenses for Water M&S team members
  • Assist with employee moves and office space allocation as needed for meetings in KC
  • Facilitate onboarding and office tours
  • Process onboarding paperwork and employee files
  • Assist with finance administrative functions related to the Water M&S team
  • Assist with IT and cellular inventory management
  • Assist with other duties as assigned.
  • Travel
  • Travel is expected to be less than 10%.  Occasional travel may be necessary to support business development summits or client events outside of Lenexa


•    At least 7 + years of administrative experience, preferably for an engineering, construction or oil/gas/chemical company
•    Proficient in Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint
•    Experience supporting accounts payable, accounts receivable and other finance administrative functions
•    Must be customer service oriented
•    Highly motivated, with a demonstrated passion for excellence and taking initiative
•    Strong work ethic, willing to do what it takes to get the job done right the first time
•    Demonstrated commitment to ethics and integrity
•    Passion for safety, with the ability to help us ensure that nobody gets hurt
•    Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
