Position Overview

The Kiewit Power Delivery EPC Estimate Sponsor is a career-level professional focused on leading high-performing estimating teams in the power delivery market.  You are the driver of our Power Delivery Estimates. Your role is critical to get early vision and feedback from our Area Manager(s) and District Manager for the team to accurately estimate the job. This position understands and owns the estimate throughout the process while following Kiewit estimating standards.  The Estimate Sponsor is expected to lead the estimating team to the lowest probable costs by determining the optimal construction means and methods, developing effective build/proposal strategies, and leveraging other Kiewit resources to complete our challenging power delivery estimates.  The Estimate Sponsor has the opportunity to learn and understand other roles of Kiewit’s Power Delivery business to continue their career development.  The Estimate Sponsor will present estimates to the executive leadership team during estimate reviews.

The Kiewit Power Delivery EPC Estimate Sponsor is expected to work in the Lenexa, Kansas office and travel as needed to support their estimate workload.

This position is located in Lenexa, KS.

Responsibilities

•    Active management to Kiewit’s estimating fundamentals - no embedded contingency; finding the most probable cost; challenging your team to value engineer every estimate.
•    Understanding staff needs and communicating those needs to PD Estimating Management so your team can meet estimate's demand.
•    BE ENGAGED and keep the estimate team progressing.
•    Learn, know, and understand Kiewit’s Keys to Sponsoring Estimates.
•    Be the consistent presence and driver to get our estimates complete on time, at the right cost, and within budget.
•    Develop the strategic plan and estimate philosophy for the estimate(s).
•    Develop the Project and Estimate Schedules.
•    Review/Approve Staff and Equipment schedules as well as other indirect costs associated with the estimate.
•    Verify all costs are accurately entered into Kiewit’s estimating system.
•    Manage and develop the final estimate proposal.
•    Review the final commercial documents.
•    Review/Approve the Estimate Risks and Opportunities.
•    Review/Approve the Estimate Clarifications & Exceptions.
•    Review/Approve all the Major Equipment and Subcontract.
•    Travel to project/estimate sites to collect data, as required.
•    Support post bid efforts and communication with Owners.

Qualifications

•    Undergraduate or graduate degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil or construction-related tech¬nology, OR extensive and related work experience leading to a thorough understanding of the knowledge, skills and abilities described above
•    At least seven years’ experience in a related role
•    Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
•    Knowledge and understanding of construction mean/methods
•    Strong attention to detail; strong communication, interpersonal, leadership and team-building skills
•    Excellent negotiation skills
•    Demonstrated proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office products (e.g., Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)
•    Willingness to learn new tools and systems
•    Developed organizational and time management skills
•    Strong written and verbal communications skills
•    Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
