Position Overview

As a Data Manager, you will lead a team of highly talented and technically diverse software engineers, database & application developers, data and reporting analysts, to design, build, test, deploy, and maintain applications and processes in support of the Kiewit’s engineering and construction needs. The candidate should be confident in leading a technical team working in web development, machine learning, statistical analysis, SQL development, Microsoft Power Platform (PowerApps, Power Automate, etc.); and advanced analytics and reporting using Tableau and Power BI. The successful candidate must thrive in a fast-paced, matrix/cross-functional team environment in support of multiple stakeholders and project teams.  This is a unique opportunity to be an innovation leader with a key role in developing industry-changing technology that will be used across the Kiewit organization to meet business operations, analysis, and reporting requirements.

District Overview

Kiewit Power Constructors (KPC) provides direct-hire construction services for Power Generation utilizing a union craft force.  Kiewit Power Constructors builds major EPC power plant projects throughout North America. 


This position is based out of Lenexa, KS at the Kiewit Power headuarters.

  • Project Planning / Management – collaborate with business stakeholders, technical staff and team members to create project plans and deliverable timelines, assign resources, and manage execution.
  • Performance Management – articulate clear tasks and performance goals for direct reports and provide frequent performance feedback. Lead and motivate direct reports to ensure seamless execution and positive results. Supervise team members and ensure that deadlines are met. Drive team productivity through requirements management and tracking.
  • Leader Engagement – communicate with senior management and prepare progress reports.
  • Resource Planning and Allocation – work with stakeholders and developers to ensure our work aligns with business and leadership priorities; manage resource availability and set priorities.
  • Team Management / Accounting – responsible for overall management of the team, including performance, and finances (budget, actuals, forecast). Work with management to maintain proper team staffing levels.
  • Escalation Management – respond to all escalations with the appropriate sense of urgency.
  • Role/Responsibility Definition – establish and communicate clear expectations for direct reports, and ensure they understand their role/responsibilities and know how they will be measured.
  • Resource Development – encourage, guide and support employee career growth and development opportunities.

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Management, Information Technology/Engineering, Mathematics or Engineering; or equivalent combination of education, and experience.
Experience leading a technical team.
Experience in a management or supervisor role.
Strong leadership and communication skills.
Excellent computer literacy skills, with good understanding of Information Technology infrastructure (networking, servers, data architecture, application architecture, databases).
Familiarity with data management tools and techniques.
Ability to visualize and communicate complex data in a simple, actionable way.
Excellent judgment, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
Highly organized and able to multitask under pressure.
Strong collaboration and relationship-building skills, conflict-resolution skills, and ability to achieve results without direct reporting relationships to stakeholders.
Ability to work toward big-picture goals and milestones while maintaining strong attention to detail.
Self-starter with a high degree of self-management and commitment to delivery timelines.
Strong sense of personal responsibility and accountability for delivering high quality work.

Master’s Degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Management, Information Technology, Mathematics, Statistics or Engineering; or equivalent combination of education, and experience.
Exposure to SQL queries and development.
Experience in database or application development, data architecting, data analytics, or related experience.
Experience with MS Office Power Platform (PowerApps, Power Automate. Power BI).
