Position Overview

The Continuous Improvement Engineer supports the Manager – Quality Management Systems and Continuous Improvement by assessing, monitoring, analyzing, and reporting on the effectiveness of company and project processes and procedures. This also includes creating and implementing change management plans to improve Quality program performance. Travel to project sites to conduct case study investigations and support change management implementation is required.

Location

This position is based in Lenexa, KS with occasional travel to projects as needed.

Responsibilities

•    Develop a deep understanding of company & project processes, quality requirements, and quality programs.
•    Perform regularly scheduled analysis of company / project processes and procedures and develop process enhancement strategies to address effectiveness and efficiencies.
•    Perform the initial screening of all condition reports assigned to the district-level that may affect company processes and procedures.
•    Monitor project-level condition reporting / corrective action / continuous improvement efforts and interface with project teams to ensure items are documented accurately and consistently.
•    Conduct Causal Analyses on breakdowns in district-level processes and procedures
•    Support Causal Analyses conducted on project-level issues
•    Develop and maintain periodic (weekly & monthly) metric reporting relating to condition reporting / corrective action / continuous improvement activities.
•    Develop Lessons Learned reports for communication of trending or significant issues.
•    Develop change management plans and support implementation of process improvements. This may include developing training materials and conducting on-site training.
•    Support early project setup (Proposal & specification reviews, Project Quality Plans, risk evaluations, testing plans)
•    Develop strong working relationships with supervisor, coworkers, and management team.
•    Perform project-level quality assessments as assigned.
•    Perform all other job-related duties as requested by supervisor.

Qualifications

•    A four-year engineering, science, or technical college degree plus 5+ years of experience in a related construction field
•    An associate degree in engineering technology or science plus 7 years of experience in a related construction field (at least 3 of these years in a quality position)
•    A high school graduate or equivalent (GED) plus 10 years of experience in a related construction field (at least five of these years in a quality position).

•    Perform work safely and effectively. Understand and follow oral and written instructions, including warning signs, equipment use, and other policies.
•    Work during normal operating hours to organize and complete work within given deadlines. Work overtime and weekends as required.
