Position Overview

Kiewit Infrastructure Engineering (KIE) has an opening for a dynamic Design/Drafting Intern in our growing Design Engineering Services Group. You will be part of our rapidly growing Infrastructure Design Department, which includes structural, geotechnical, civil, drainage, roadway, rail, and materials disciplines, is a multi-faceted and leading-edge division of Kiewit with best-in-class technical expertise focused on the design-build delivery of infrastructure projects.

District Overview

Kiewit Infrastructure Engineering's Design-Build team is driving clients to turn to Kiewit during all stages of design-build projects. Through our integrated design and construction approach, our multi-disciplinary team works together to improve schedule, control costs, and minimize risk. Our construction-focused engineers work collaboratively with our estimators and builders to design solutions that are innovative, constructible, and designed with a focus on safety. Clients benefit from the proven processes and tools used by Kiewit to minimize project risk. We are an in-house resource that supports projects throughout the company. Our staff shares experiences gained, innovative concepts, and best practices for all projects that we support.

Location

This internship will be based out of our Laval office.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the production of drawings and details of roadway, drainage and traffic plans
  • Collaborate with entry and mid-level employees for skills development; review work progress and results and provide direction as needed.
  • Utilize basic civil engineering software packages and computer-aided drafting software in accordance with industry codes and standards.
  • Collaborate with various discipline and subsidiary groups to provide expertise and support business needs.
  • Work closely with Kiewit construction partners in a collaborative manner to ensure total project success.  

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of basic spreadsheet, database, word processing programs, and basic computer operation
  • Currently pursuing an associates degree in civil engineering, preferred or an Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Aided Design & Drafting Technology or related field
  • Knowledge of computer-assisted engineering and design software, such as Microstation or AutoCAD
  • Highly motivated, with a demonstrated passion for excellence and taking initiative 
  • Demonstrated commitment to ethics and integrity 
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills in both French and English
    • Functional knowledge of English (written and verbal) is considered as an asset since mobility across provinces in Canada is a possibility.
  • Team player with the ability to work independently to meet deadlines, goals, and objectives 
  • Strong organization, time management, and attention to detail
