Position Overview
Kiewit Infrastructure Engineers is seeking an Early Career Structural Designer for bridge and infrastructure construction projects in Québec. The candidate will perform a variety of conceptual and detailed design plans related to steel and concrete bridges, soil retaining structures, industrial buildings, construction methods, etc. The candidate will develop 3D models of various structures and participate in design reviews. The Structural Designer should have between 0 et 3 years of experience in the production of structural plans, must be highly technically competent and familiar with current tools, programs, softwares as well as CADD production practices.

Location
This position is based out of Québec (Laval, Québec City & surrounding areas)
Responsibilities
- Work with the engineering team to develop preliminary and final design bridge plans and details;
- Detail structural elements, including concrete reinforcement and steel connections;
- Use MicroStation, AutoCAD, and 3D modeling software to develop the structure plans;
- Produce models, exhibits, reinforcement bar lists, engineering reports, quantity reports, etc.;
- Meet project technical and schedule requirements;
- Communicate progress with the task lead;
- Ensure all work is performed in compliance with Kiewit and/or project-specific standards and Quality Management plans.
Qualifications
- 0 - 3 years of experience in CADD production in structural design;
- DEC in Civil Engineering Technology or equivalent;
- General knowledge of engineering principles and civil engineering materials;
- Ability to understand construction documents and design standards;
- Background in structural design and construction preferred;
- Proficiency with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation, both is preferred;
- Basic skills in Microsoft Office products, Bluebeam and ProjectWise;
- Knowledge of 3D modeling using Tekla, OpenBridge, and/or Revit is preferred;
- Ability to clearly communicate and collaborate with engineers and other designers;
- Critical thinking skills necessary with the ability to plan and conceptualize;
- Capable of recognizing discrepancies with strong attention to detail.
