Position Overview

As a Claims Manager in the Risk Management & Insurance Department, you will provide claims management support to district operations in the reporting, investigation, adjustment, and settlement of insured claims, interfacing with Legal, Equipment, and other Kiewit departments and third-party claims administrators.  You will also participate in training activities for project and district personnel and perform other duties as assigned by your supervisor or Director of Risk Management and Insurance.

Primary Functions:

  • Administer and oversee Canadian auto liability, general liability, equipment damage, and property damage claims

Major Responsibilities:

  • Manage correspondence and maintain electronic claim files per department protocols
  • Facilitate subrogation claims against 3rd parties who cause damage to Kiewit property or equipment
  • Liaise with the Kiewit Legal Department and external adjusters, insurers, and brokers
  • Provide oversight of provincial automobile liability claims
  • Provide claims tracking and status reports and statistics to project and district management
  • Serve as key contact for claims adjusters and project management
  • Provide claim file reviews as needed
  • Interface with Accounting to facilitate receipt and posting of recovery credits
  • Participate in the training and education programs presented by the Department


The successful candidate must possess the following qualifications:

  • Reside in Canada
  • Be fluent in both English and French- preferred
  • BS/BA Undergraduate Degree  
  • Minimum five years insurance claims handling experience
  • Knowledge of provincial liability laws, rules, regulations, and statutes in all jurisdictions 
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Ability to work independently and communicate risks or potential problems to manager
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, etc.
