Position Overview

We have a unique opportunity for a dynamic Human Resources Advisor to join our Global HR Service Center. As an HR Advisor, you will be responsible for providing high-level support to employees and managers regarding onboarding, new hire administration, offboarding, and policies and procedures. You will serve as a first point of contact for our new hires, their managers, and HR Business Partners as they navigate the processes we support. This includes our populations in US and Canada. We are looking for someone with great problem-solving skills, who has the ability to thrive in a high-volume, fast-paced, Shared Service / Center of Excellence office environment.  
As an HR Advisor, you will be responsible for providing quality support services with a high degree of customer satisfaction, expertise, and timeliness utilizing our AskHR support portal, telephone, chat, email, and drop-in face-to-face interactions.   This position has a good understanding of HR and can explain the background and context of rules and procedures to employees and managers on more complex issues. This includes evaluating and analyzing the request/concern, quickly interpreting the situation, determining the appropriate resolution and/or escalation, and communicating the resolution and escalation to the customer in accordance with company and HR policies and procedures. This role works closely with HR centers of excellence (COE) team members and HR Business Partners to resolve problems and identify areas of ambiguity needing clarity or improvement. This position also supports the department in the administration of HR work and projects assigned to the team.

District Overview

HR Operations is an integral partner and service provider at Kiewit. In recent years, we have gone from decentralized HR groups to a unified, shared service team, with various HR Centers of Excellence. Our vision is to be a best-in-class international HR organization.

Location

This position is will be based out of one of the regional offices in Laval.

Responsibilities

  • Professionally and accurately responds to written and oral inquiries from employees and managers regarding more complex HR questions, issues, problems. This will include telephone, chat, e-mail, and drop-in face-to-face interactions.
  • Support onboarding and offboarding processes for both full-time employees and interns to ensure consistent messaging across the department. 
  • Function as a primary Advisor for specific districts within the company to support them through both our high-volume intern onboarding season in the spring/summer, as well as any year-round intern and early career onboarding needs they may have.
  • Act as main point of contact for new hires before their start date and, providing a best-in-class onboarding experience.
  • Leverage HR dashboards, reports, and data to build reports, presentations, and communications for the HRBP and department leadership.
  • Utilize and implement various human resource information systems (HRIS) and provide support to employees and managers.
  • Make recommendations for process improvement and efficiency based on patterns and trends that have been identified through audit of cases and work product. Work with management to identify workflow issues and identify process improvement opportunities and continually seek to stay current on company policies, procedures, and organizational changes.
  • Obtain and provide requested information or take appropriate action to resolve, refer, or escalate issues in accordance with company and/or HR policies and procedures.
  • Work closely with the field HR teams, employees and management and support the department in the administration of assigned work, including reprioritizing tasks to meet fluctuating workflow. 
  • Additional duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • 2-3 years of Human Resources experience
  • Degree in Human Resources or related preferred
  • Knowledge of various areas of human resources including onboarding, separations, benefits, employment, and pay-related practices
  • Ability to thrive in a high-volume, fast-paced, Shared Service / Center of Excellence office environment
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Familiarity with HRIS systems a plus
  • Ability to work with a diverse group of employees and individuals
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize multiple projects
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Ability to work independently or with a team
  • High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office applications to include Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Bilingual English/French
