Position Overview

As a Superintendent, you will play a significant part in the success.  You will function as a field supervisor and may have responsibility for multiple Foreman, and/or laborers/craft workers. You will be responsible for the organization, work methods, scheduling, cost control, conformity with drawings and specification, workmanship and assignment of work to accomplish the execution of the work, either directly or through General Foreman or Foreman. You will also work to maintain positive working relationships with clients, architect/engineer, suppliers, subcontractors and jobsite staff

District Overview

Kiewit’s Northern California District is one of Kiewit’s leading infrastructure districts specializing in various types of work in the heavy civil, power, transportation, and water resource markets. Although most of our work is regionally based in Northern California, we also pursue various projects across the west coast. We are looking for individuals who are passionate about infrastructure and committed to the construction industry rather than design.

Responsibilities

•    Mentor, develop, and coordinate field engineers and craft workers assigned to your operations
•    Oversee and participate in the development of work plans to facilitate safe and efficient construction of field operations.
•    Ensure that work is built to project specifications and quality standards.
•    Participate in the development of project schedule to ensure work sequence and scope is accurately captured and incorporated. 
•    Coordinate and manage the procurement of materials and subcontracted scope of work
•    Client Relationships - Develop and maintain effective communication with owner’s representative. 
•    Establish production goals and manage cost to achieve budget on filed operations 
•    Manage field operations to ensure that work is completed in a safe manner and in compliance with company and regulatory safety policies.
 

Qualifications

•  6+ years of construction experience with 3+ years being in a Structural Superintendent/Leadership capacity (preferably working on infrastructure projects such as bridges, dams, marine structures, water/wastewater treatment plans etc.)
•  Preferred candidate will have experience running field operations to construct concrete bridge structures, experience with formwork and falsework for cast in place concrete, experience erecting precast concrete and or steel girders  
•  Must be a self-starter, highly motivated with the ability to work with minimal supervision
•  Ability to quickly learn and understand various processes regarding Kiewit's policies, procedures 
•  Ability to identify and resolve any problems that may arise
•  In addition this position must have
•  Excellent organizational, administrative, communication and interpersonal skills
•  Strong experience in Leadership, safety, negotiations, planning and contract administration
•  Abilities to access all areas on a construction project site
•  Knowledge of cranes, construction rigging and use of slings, cable chokers, spreader bars and multi-part load blocks, to complete crane hoisting tasks land and marine
•  Ability to read and interpret construction documents and assist in planning work schedule
