Position Overview

Kiewit is currently seeking a Structural Designer/Detailer for its Kiewit Offshore Services (KOS) district. In this role you will play apart of the continued success of the group, working with the detailing team in support of some of the largest most complex OGC projects around.

District Overview

Kiewit Offshore Services, a district (or business unit) of Kiewit Corporation that builds structurally complex jackets and topsides for offshore oil drilling rigs. Located in Ingleside, TX, 20 minutes outside of Corpus Christi, the 550-acre fabrication yard is the workplace of 300 staff employees and 1400 craft employees who work in the yard year-round. The projects built by Kiewit Offshore Services require significant equipment planning, detailed cost estimates and schedules, a commitment to safety by all employees, and are truly unforgettable. Location

This position is based out of our Ingleside, TX construction yard/office.

Responsibilities

•    Should be detail oriented and able to read and interpret industry blueprints (i.e., structural framing, piping isometrics, plan architectural, and equipment layout drawings)
•    Should have the ability to model complex connections and assemblies utilizing project General Notes and select the appropriate Typical Details with limited guidance.
•    Read and derive measurements, angles, dimensions, and quality of material needed to fabricate a structure.
•    Develop/check shop drawings (Typically Girder Beams), part detail drawings, piece mark drawings, and single and multi-coped pipe templates for field use.
•    Loft/detail/check and develop CNC files for structural plates, beams, and pipe.
•    Develop/check pipe supports and field dimensions.
•    Use and analyze job specifications and be familiar with shop/yard/welding practices
•    Research data and use industry catalogs.
•    Operate Windows Systems computer, handheld calculator, compass, scales and drafting tools.
•    Distinguish colors when working with color-coded drawings.
•    Perform hand and computer aided drafting and material take-off tasks.
•    Plan, organize, multi-task and carry out assignments with minimal direction and supervision in order to meet deliverable dates.
•    Other duties may be assigned.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, you must be able to create technical drawings based on given specifications and calculations. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
•    High School diploma or general education degree (GED).
•    Minimum of 4-5 years AutoCAD experience with the ability to generate 3D layouts and/or models.
•    Familiar with 3D Modeling software such as – AutoCAD/ Tekla Structures BIM Modeling/ Navisworks/ Iconstruct.
•    Or equivalent combination of education and experience.
•    Knowledge in Microsoft Word and Excel.
•    Experience in construction Offshore oil and gas projects in a Steel Modeling/Detailing role.
•    General knowledge of industry standards such as AISC and ASME
•    Must be skilled in math, computers and blueprint reading.
•    Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
•    Ability to compute rate, ration and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
