Mechanical Technician Job Responsibilities

  1. RESPONSIBILITIES/ACTIVITIES

The Mechanical technician’s overall responsibilities are, but not limited to, the following:

  • Familiarise himself with all mechanical equipment, equipment, especially related, and maintain/repair as instructed by his superior
  • Liaising with the Mechanical Lead regarding equipment repairs, maintenance and planning so as to minimize the risk of delay through equipment breakdown or downtime
  • Perform a regularly scheduled (PMs) preventative maintenance process/facility equipment
  • Immediately rectifying or reporting to the mechanical lead/foreman of any defects or discrepancies in process or associated equipment
  • Responsibility for care and maintenance of all mechanical tools and workshops equipment’s
  • Notify & initiate notifications of any/all equipment breakdowns & identify necessary spares
  • Maintain his work area in a clean and tidy condition and free from any safety hazards
  • Familiarize himself with reporting routines regarding the SAP based maintenance system on board
  • Participate in safety meetings, safety drills & implemented safety programs (i.e. BBSM, HAZ I.D)

     

  1. SPECIAL DUTIES
  • Ensure that all orders and instruction given in writing or verbally are fully understood and adhered to
  • Familiarize himself with all relevant work and safety procedures issued by Shore Base facility and by the Operator, and promote implementation of same
  • Promptly report any/all incidents, near-miss accidents and non-conformances or safety hazards to his immediate superior
  • Be safely conscious in all his/her work and utilize required (PPE) personal protective equipment
  • Carry out duties according to the facilities (ERP) Emergency Response Procedure when needed
  • Inform the superior of any suggestion to make a safer working environment to make a more efficient operation of facility

     

  1. QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
  • 2 yrs. Oil field, process, production fabrication or like experience
  • Be somewhat mechanically inclined (additional training will be provided)
  • Have knowledge of computers & basic Microsoft programs (Word, Excel, Power Point)
  • Be safety conscious at all times and willing to go above and beyond to provide/maintain a safe work place
  • Good knowledge of English (both oral and written)
  • Traverse up & down stairs, ladders & walkways to perform work and complete safety walks
  • Be willing to learn the implemented maintenance and inventory system (SAP)
  • Ability to work late & weekends as needed
