Position Overview

The Engineering Systems Developer, I&C, works as a member of the ETS Strategic Development Team to architect, develop and implement strategic automation solutions for optimizing I&C engineering and design workflows with a focus on utilizing latest technology on projects. Engineering Systems Developer, I&C, will be a well-rounded and knowledgeable individual with a breadth of knowledge across Hexagon's SmartPlant suite of tools. Engineering Systems Developer, I&C, will assist the project teams during early phases as a specialist advisor on workflows and best practices on an as needed basis. Engineering Systems Developer, I&C, will be expected to provide leadership to the project teams in terms of working within a data centric tools environment and must bring a strong attitude for data quality and practices to each project. Engineering Systems Developer, I&C, will work closely with the project team to enforce standard workflows within tools and help define these where required.

Responsibilities

· Being proficient and having project/site-based experience in Process and Instrumentation Design (P&ID) and Engineering across multiple industries such as Oil, Gas & Chemical, Power & Power Generation, Specialty Chemicals.

· Having a focused and strong attitude towards data quality and consistency for the project on a day-to-day basis.

· Having a strong aptitude for Technology and focus on maximizing the utilization of data centric tools to build out and expedite project data.

· Being familiar with engineering software API’s and underlying data model (Metadata) to allow proposal and development of complex automation solutions that will optimize engineering workflows and reduce schedule & cost during early phases of project.

· Providing training and supporting project teams on Kiewit’s standard and in-house developed tools, while tracking issues and recording progress via tickets.

· Interfacing directly with software vendors to escalate issues (bugs) and request new functionality to support Kiewit’s standard workflows, which needs a strong technical understanding of the software applications.

· Being familiar with I&C engineering work processes and can facilitate preliminary engineering and design during early phases of the project to support estimates.

· Working with ETS tool administrators and developers to facilitate required tool configurations and customizations as per project requirements.

· Influencing project execution strategy to take advantage of the preferred engineering systems and software tools.

· Must be able to communicate effectively with project teams, and management while maintaining a structured approach of working within a larger integrated engineering solution.

· Overseeing engineering systems setup and maintenance, including customizations implemented mid-project, and reporting progress against these requirements.

· Identification of engineering systems training requirements and coordinating delivery of same.

· Developing and maintaining project-specific engineering systems work practice documentation.

Qualifications

 

· At least 20 years of experience within the EPC industries, in a relevant role and with strong project execution experience, is required.

· Experience in I&C Engineering across multiple industries such as Oil, Gas & Chemical, Power & Power Generation, Specialty Chemicals.

 ·Expert knowledge of I&C engineering with at least five (5) years of Lead Design or Engineering experience with SI as the chosen tool for data delivery.

· Experience in Front End Engineering and Design work and knowledge of industry standard practices for I&C engineering workflows.

· High Level of knowledge and understanding with AutoCAD, and Intergraph’s SmartSketch.

· High level of knowledge and understanding with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, etc.).

· A good understanding or demonstration of skillset with Structured Query Language (SQL) would be considered a distinct advantage.

· Strong knowledge of methods for data-centric execution

· Broad working knowledge of systems related to the design, construction, and operation of energy-related capital projects, including engineering design systems, data and document management systems, and project systems (estimating, project controls, procurement, construction, commissioning systems and information technology) with specific expertise in one or more of these disciplines.
