Our rapidly growing oil, gas and chemical team, which includes structural, civil, piping, mechanical, process, process safety, electrical, instrument and control disciplines, is a multi-faceted and leading-edge division of Kiewit with best-in-class technical expertise focused on the EPCC delivery model for dynamic process facilities. 


This position is based out of our Energy Corridor Office in Houston, TX and typically requires less than 25 percent travel. 


•    Developing a Request for Proposal to be sent to licensors for the development of a Process Design Package (PDP)
•    Perform a role similar to an owner’s engineer during the development of a PDP and a FEED
•    Identifies advanced solutions to complex issues.
•    Proactively identifies gaps in design and provides solutions.
•    Reviews and provides feedback on project design documents.
•    Identifies and provides solutions to conflicting requirements and approaches as needed.
•    Provides recommendations to solve technical issues.
•    Generates multiple alternatives before settling on a best solution.
•    Develops creative solutions to complex problems.
•    Collaborates with others to determine best solution internally and externally.
•    Serves as Kiewit representative in external organization.
•    Identifies changes in scope of work during a project and communicates observations to Kiewit.
•    Generates new ways of thinking about and solving design issues.
•    Conducts checking of design on projects to ensure accuracy.
•    Sets the example for exceptional performance.
•    Serves as the SME to provide engineering and technical expertise for projects with emphasis in Ammonia Synthesis and hydrogen production based upon technologies offered by major licensors, including Haldor TopsØe, KBR, Uhde Thyssenkrupp and Ammonia Casale.


•    Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering minimum required.
•    25+ years minimum relevant experience in the chemical and petrochemical industries with at least 10 in Ammonia synthesis.
•    Experience in design and operating principles of Steam Methane Reforming upstream of the Ammonia plant is a must.
•    Proven track record in performing technology selection studies
•    Past experience developing a Request for Proposal to be sent to licensors for the development of a Process Design Package (PDP)
•    Past experience performing a role similar to an owner’s engineer during the development of a PDP and a FEED
•    Experience in Commissioning/operational Trouble shooting.
•    Travel < 20% expected.
•    Plans individual work to accomplish objectives.
•    Identifies gaps in the design and works to resolve and close them proactively.
•    Communicates effectively across all levels of the organizations.
•    Advises and provides perspectives from a variety of sources internally and externally to solve problems. Works well with others across all levels. 
•    Serves as technical resource to projects and estimating.
•    Continuously improves efficiency and performance.
•    Actively seeks feedback from customers and takes action to improve processes.  
•    Proactively looks for solutions to improve quality, cost and safety.
•    Reviews and provides input to project schedule.
