Location

This position is based out of our Energy Corridor Office in Houston, TX and typically requires less than 25 percent travel. Opportunities for flexible work are available. 

Responsibilities

•    Experience with understanding customer’s scope of work and developing conceptual design fit for purpose.
•    Generate design deliverables such as PFD’s, P&ID’s, Heat and Material Balance, Data Sheets and engineering calculations including hydraulics and process simulations.
•    Experience with preparing bottoms-up deliverable based estimate for engineering hours required in various phases of a project such as pre-FEED, FEED and detailed design.
•    Recognizes the importance of customer needs and provides resolution of technical issues associated with design, construction, equipment and/or operations.
•    Ability to make assumptions based on experience when detailed plans are not provided, and when front-end estimating is required based on conceptual level designs. 
•    Performs intermediate calculations under the supervision of a more senior engineer. Solves problems using well established scientific principles.
•    Conducts routine technical assignments with some oversight from experienced personnel.
•    Works with designers to develop engineering and design documents as needed for the estimate.
•    Considers multiple solutions and makes good decisions based on good data analysis.
•    Recognizes, troubleshoots and resolves design constraints and issues.  Applies economic analysis to determine best cost solutions.  
•    Considers new and developing technologies for innovative, best cost solution with little to no supervision.
•    Flexible with learning new tools and estimating processes, Questions accepted ways of doing things and looks for opportunities to try new ideas.
•    Performs assigned work efficiently and effectively to maximize person productivity.
•    Establishes credibility in terms of technical competency.

Qualifications

•    Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering minimum required.
•    5-15 years relevant experience in LNG or refining or petrochemical industry.
•    Travel < 20% expected.
•    Receives little to no instruction on routine work and detailed instruction on new assignment from more experienced engineer. Receives guidance on high risk or advanced conditions.
•    Provides guidance to less experienced engineers.
•    Adjusts to varying demands of work and performs well.
•    Develops and presents work in well-constructed written and verbal presentations.  Clearly conveys messages and ideas, gains understanding.
•    Works collaboratively across departments and involves others in solving problems. Initiates meetings within own team, other disciplines or internal customers for clarity on work.
•    Supports project teams and departments in a positive and productive manner. Works well with other to accomplish common goals and objectives. 
•    Serves as point of contact for external or internal customers.
•    Follows through on commitments made to internal and external customers. 
•    Able to manage multiple responsibilities with set expectations and meet deadlines.
•    Able to specify actions to take when standards or contract requirements are not met.
•    Experience with Aspen HYSYS and other process simulation tools.
