Position Overview

The position provides project specific leadership and material management for large construction projects. This position manages staff and craft employees and interacts with senior site management, vendors, subcontractors and service providers. Candidate must possess experience in both purchasing and material control. Travel or relocation for long-term and short-term field assignments will be required. The position is operational in nature dealing significantly with field issues at active projects.

Kiewit Supply Network group specializes in providing comprehensive procurement services to clients across the construction and engineering industries in multiple markets, including transportation; water/wastewater; power; oil, gas and chemical; building; and mining.  Our key objectives are to offer clients a world-class service focused on ensuring equipment, materials and services are consistently estimated and procured at the right price. These projects are located in Mississippi, Pennsylvania and other various Locations. Must be willing to "go where the work is"! 

Responsibilities

  • Ensure project specific safety plan is followed by material management group while promoting a safety-first mentality and culture site wide.
  • Develop and direct material management team including both craft and staff personnel.
  • Implement and maintain policies and procedures for material control with minimal outside assistance.
  • Oversee receipt, storage, and issuance of project materials.
  • Responsible for projections, financial planning, delivery schedules and material management reporting.
  • Manage project support functions such as site security, portable toilets, temporary fencing, dumpsters, trailer setup, etc.
  • Supervise the completion of large project mobilization and/or demobilization. 
  • Represent company in negotiations and coordination with suppliers.
  • Verify OSD&E resolution is being tracked.
  • Provide training and conduct material management related audits to ensure procedures are followed.
  • Communicate and enforce material management procedures to project team.
     

Qualifications

  • BA degree and/or eight plus years’ experience in power or industrial construction role. 
  • Subject Matter Expert (SME) on all material management functions.
  • Working knowledge of site purchasing, execution, estimating and their impact on material management.
  • Ability to lead others and manage complex processes.
  • Capable of gaining buy in cross functionally and organizationally at all levels.
  • Proven ability to plan and execute project work.
  • Working knowledge of prime contract requirements for project execution .
  • Prior experience with tracking equipment, materials, labor budgets, trends and forecasts.
  • Effective time management and organizational skills with the ability to perform multiple tasks efficiently and accurately.
  • Team player who can also work independently to meet goals and objectives.
  • Ability to manage, train and coach purchasing and material control staff.
  • Must possess strong leadership and management skills.
  • Ability to relocate for long-term and short-term field assignments as required.
