Position Overview

We’re seeking a mid-level, on-site Field Operations HR Specialist to join our dynamic project team for our newest
exciting construction project. In this pivotal on-site role, you’ll act as the primary HR contact for both craft and
staff employees, collaborating closely with construction and engineering teams. You’ll take ownership of day-today HR activities on the construction job site, delivering high-impact generalist support while drawing on the
expertise of our Centers of Excellence (COEs). This is a unique opportunity to contribute directly to the success of
a fast-paced project environment while making a tangible impact on the employee experience

You’ll act as a liaison with HR Shared Services to ensure the delivery of support to exceed internal client needs. You will need to establish a strong partnership and execute initiatives related to developing and retaining a talented and engaged workforce. As we keep working hard, we take pride in helping build the legacy of Kiewit and projects across the globe.

Location

This project site is in Homer City, PA. Non-local hires will report to Lenexa, KS for training upon hire, then mobilize to Homer City, PA to work on the project site. 

Responsibilities

Human Resources Day-to-Day Management 

  • Provide day-to-day support to US-based employees and management. Includes providing tactical guidance on policies, routine performance management, and general HR inquiries.
  • Consult with department directors to ensure meaningful assignments at the time of onboarding.
  • Conduct bi-weekly onboarding sessions to integrate new hires.
  • Support the development of HR related strategies and ensure implementation and execution.
  • Maintain knowledge of progressive HR practices, trends and data points to drive enhancements.
  • Maintain employee visibility through Job visits and employee interaction.
  • Review employee dashboards, reports and data are utilized to drive business decisions and tactics. Consult with directors and managers on data and interpretations.

 

Workforce Planning and Talent Management

  • Support implementation of programs to drive development, employee engagement and retention.
  • Support the execution of performance improvement plans and provide consultation as necessary.
  • Serve as liaison for terminations or separations of employees.
  • Support development of succession plans and skills gap analysis, ensuring that they are consistently reviewed and that effective actions are in place.
  • Ensure coaching, feedback and performance systems are utilized to maximize workforce productivity.

 

Leadership Development

  • Participate in strategic planning by assisting people planning needs and priorities.
  • Consolidate critical initiatives, goals & data points for future consideration.
  • Assist with rollout and update communications of District plans and progress (District and Corporate).
  • Work with operational leaders to consult on effective organizational design and optimize talent.

 

Program Execution and Employee Support

  • Serve as advisor to department leadership teams by providing insights, consultation, and support.
  • Support implementation of standard communications, processes and reporting for HR annual cycle activities.
  • Act as a liaison with HR Shared Services to ensure the delivery of support to exceed internal client needs .
  • Provide feedback to influence the continuous improvement of HR services and processes.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of progressive HR experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in HR or related field
  • Experienced HR professional who can strike a balance between systems thinking, HR program execution and process innovation
  • Ability to travel throughout the US up to 25% of the time
  • Proven ability to take initiative and build strong and productive personal relationships
  • Great business acumen, strong analytical skills, and high attention to detail

Base Compensation: 75,000 - 105,000 
(Actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as education, experience, skillset, and/or location)
