Position Overview

As a Payroll / AP Clerk for the Buckskin Mine you will work directly under the supervision of the HR Business Partner to process craft payroll, accounts payable and additional Human Resource tasks as needed by the Business.

Location

This role is an onsite position at the Buckskin Mine in Gillette, Wyoming 

Responsibilities

  • Timecard tracking and input on a daily basis for craft employees 
  • Process weekly payroll for craft employees 
  • Print and package weekly pay checks and pay advices for distribution to craft employees 
  • Produce payroll-related reports as required for management 
  • Producing off-cycle checks for tool allowance, clothing allowance, bonus payments, etc.  
  • Respond to employee inquiries 
  • Vacation and sick leave tracking/reporting 
  • Process formalities for new employees and terminations 
  • Work closely with corporate payroll to ensure payroll transactions are processed accurately and in accordance with government agencies and internal policies. 
  • Manage assigned workflows to ensure timely processing of vendor invoices.  
  • Process a high volume of invoices with accuracy.  
  • Perform three-way match reconciliation of purchase order to goods receipt to invoice.  
  • Understand and apply tax plans appropriately to the processing of vendor invoices for multiple project locations 
  • Provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers; understand Kiewit’s core business and promote a sense of urgency toward business-critical issues 
  • Follow processes, procedures and internal controls 
  • Identify and communicate opportunities for process improvement; collaborate with internal and external partners to increase efficiencies in the department 
  • Reliable and consistent attendance 
  • Perform other job-related tasks as needed or assigned 
  • Maintain a high level of confidentiality in payroll, AP, and employee related matters  

Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of computers and experience in the use of Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (preferred)  
  • Experience in a professional work environment 
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills; clearly conveys messages and ideas, gains understanding; generates interest and holds attention, listens and is open to the ideas of others 
  • Highly motivated and self-directed; initiative and a sense of urgency to get things done
