Position Overview

Kiewit Equipment Services is hiring a Guidance Solution Specialist to lead a regional team of equipment technology personnel and ensure reliable deployment and support of machine control and survey systems across multiple projects. This role emphasizes resource planning, allocation, and management.  The ideal candidate blends hands-on technical expertise with operational leadership, scheduling, and cross-functional coordination. This role closely collaborates with project leadership, survey and equipment managers.

Kiewit Construction Technology (KCT), a part of KES, is on the leading edge of construction technology. This position is based out of our Fort Worth, TX Shop.

Responsibilities

•    Maintain a culture of prioritizing safety and quality over everything.  Consistently train and uphold this commitment.
•    Coach, schedule, set expectations, mentor, audit
•    Forecast demand, allocate technicians and hardware, manage coverage, and balance competing site needs.
•    Produce SOPs, quick references, and toolbox talks; deliver trainings at all levels within the company, as required
•    Coordinate with warehouse teams on kits, spares, and vendors to minimize downtime.
•    Track team metrics, capture lessons learned and drive process improvements.
•    Step in for complex installs, critical calibrations, or high-priority troubleshooting as needed.

Qualifications

•    4+ years with machine control/survey technology (Trimble/Topcon/Leica or similar) in heavy civil; 1–2+ years leading field techs/crews or equivalent lead responsibilities.
•    Strong planning and resource allocation skills; adept with scheduling, workload balancing, and setting SLAs/KPIs.
•    Deep working knowledge of GNSS/RTK, UTS/total station workflows, radios/data links, and in-cab control systems.
•    Solid mechanical/electrical aptitude (12/24V, CAN bus, sensor mounting, harness routing); reads schematics and OEM docs.
•    Proficient with ticketing and asset systems; strong Excel/Outlook/reporting skills; clear written documentation.
•    Confident decision-maker with excellent stakeholder communication and escalation judgment.
•    Valid driver’s license; comfortable on active jobsites and in variable weather.

Working Conditions

•    Will manage a diverse workload; must be able to handle stress and immediate deadlines
•    Must be able to interact professionally with all levels of management
•    Frequent travel to project locations
•    Ability to lift/carry up to 50 lbs and climb on/around machines with PPE
•    Must be able to work regularly scheduled hours and occasional irregular hours aligned to project needs (overtime/night/weekend possible)
