District Overview
Kiewit’s Northwest District is headquartered in Vancouver, Washington. We primarily perform heavy civil projects specializing in earth moving, transportation, roadways, water resources, and underground utilities. We are looking for hard working individuals with a passion for construction who aren’t afraid to get their hands dirty! Our current opportunities are spread across the entire west coast including Alaska and Hawaii.

Responsibilities
• Routinely inspecting the facilities, machinery, and safety equipment to identify and correct potential hazards, and to ensure safety regulation compliance.
• Routinely monitoring the workforce for unsafe behaviors and coach employees on the correct behaviors when observed
• Developing environmental health and safety training materials to include manuals, brochures, PowerPoint presentations etc.
• Developing a paperwork management system to track training records to track all safety training initiatives conducted personally or by outside consultants/vendors.
• Interpreting safety regulations for the project.
• Coordinating and presenting safety training to support client requirements including new hire orientation, fall protection, confined space, lockout/tagout.
• Interfacing with Occupational Safety and Health (OSHA) or federal officials/inspectors in the event of a site visit.
• Conduct daily safety and health inspections and maintain a written log which includes area/operation inspected, date of inspection, identified hazards, recommended corrective actions, estimated and actual date of corrections.
• Attach safety inspection logs to the Contractors' daily production report.
• Conduct mishap investigations and complete required accident reports. Report mishaps and near misses.
• Use and maintain OSHA's Form 300 to log work-related injuries and illnesses occurring on the project site for Prime Contractors and subcontractors and make available to the Contracting Officer upon request. Post and maintain the Form 300A on the site Safety Bulletin Board.
• Maintain applicable safety reference material on the site.
• Attend the pre-construction conference, pre-work meetings including preparatory meetings, and periodic in-progress meetings.
• Review the APP and AHAs for compliance with EM 385-1-1, and approve, sign, implement and enforce them.
• Establish a Safety and Occupational Health (SOH) Deficiency Tracking System that lists and monitors outstanding deficiencies until resolution.
• Ensure subcontractor compliance with safety and health requirements.
• Maintain a list of hazardous chemicals on site and their material Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
• Maintain a weekly list of high hazard activities involving energy, equipment, excavation, entry into confined space, and elevation, and be prepared to discuss details during meetings.
• Provide and keep a record of site safety orientation and indoctrination for Contractor employees, subcontractor employees, and site visitors.
Qualifications
• Must have a CHST (Construction Health & Safety Technician)
• Mut be a US Citizen (Required by Red Hill site)
• The SSHO Level 2 is required to have a minimum of 5 years of construction industry safety experience on similar projects.
• 30-hour OSHA construction safety class or equivalent within the last 5 years.
• An average of at least 24 hours of formal safety training each year for the last 5 years with training for competent person status for at least the following four areas of competency: Excavation; Scaffolding; Fall protection, Hazardous energy; Confined space; Health hazard recognition, evaluation and control of chemical, physical and biological agents; Personal protective equipment and clothing to include selection, use and maintenance.

Base Compensation: $100,068 - $150,102
(Actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as education, experience, skillset, and/or location)
