Position Overview
The Northern California District is seeking a Quality Manager.
District Overview
Kiewit’s Northern California District is one of Kiewit’s leading infrastructure districts specializing in various types of work in the heavy civil, power, transportation, and water resource markets. Although most of our work is regionally based in Northern California, we also pursue various projects across the west coast. We are looking for individuals who are passionate about infrastructure and committed to the construction industry rather than design.
Location
Although this opportunity is with Kiewit’s Northern California District, we do work across the United States and require our employees to be open to relocation.
Responsibilities
• Promote and maintain effective communications and relations with district management, project management teams, authorized inspectors and engineer or client as required.
• Recruit, hire, train, mentor and supervise district and project quality control personnel (including quality inspectors, and quality managers)
• Coordinate quality control staffing needs on projects and assign qualified personnel. Work with other districts as needed to share resources.
• Assist project teams in setting up the quality department and preparing for project kick-off and pre-job planning meetings. Assist in identifying the proper Inspection and Test Plans (ITP’s), checklists, and other documentation for the project.
• Support project teams in the development and implementation of project quality plans and supplemental procedures as needed.
• Facilitate resolution of issues by working with Project Quality Managers and Project Managers.
• Monitor and report district quality incident and welding metrics.
• Liaison between authorized inspection agency and jurisdictional authorities. Assist in acquiring authorized inspection services to the projects.
• Research and answer technical questions; assist in the interpretation of construction codes and standards.
Qualifications
• Must have a minimum of ten (10) years of experience managing quality assurance and quality control programs of similiar size and type of this Project.
• Must have a minimum of ten (10) years of quality control testing and inspection experience for tunnels using both TBMs and SEM/NATM methods, earthwork, complex underground concrete structures, deep foundations, transit stations, electrical, Non-Destructive Testing (NDT), Source Inspection and Quality Mock-Ups and Samples.
• Must be a State of California-registered Professional Engineer.
• Reports directly to Project Manager and is independent from the production team.
• Must be assigned to the Project on site full-time for the duration of the Project.
• Must have the ability to record and organize all necessary quality documentation to memorialize the implementation, maintenance, confirmation and effectiveness of the Contractor's Quality Program, Plans and Subcontractors.
• Must have the ability to communicate clearly, exercise good judegment, work under pressure.
• Must be a State of California-registered Professional Engineer.
