Position Overview

The Sr CAD Designer will work with the Design Engineers to review customer requirements and produce electrical and mechanical drawings that will be submitted to clients for approval and to other third parties to assemble and wire equipment. 

District Overview

Kiewit Infrastructure Engineers (KIE) is a multi-faceted and leading-edge division of our company that offers a variety of services, including, temporary and permanent design services for current projects and new project pursuits in the United States and Canada.  Our design services group has offices in Colorado, Nebraska, Washington State, and Toronto, Canada offering expertise in structural, geotechnical, civil, drainage, roadway, and materials disciplines.  Our engineering group is responsible for managing engineering assignments in support of Kiewit’s construction projects in both the United States and Canada.  As part of the engineering group, you will have the opportunity to work with other structural and geotechnical engineers, members of our interdisciplinary engineering team, as well as estimators, schedules and construction experts to provide advice on construction methodology, risk and the design of temporary works.

This position is based out of our Englewood, CO (south Denver) office.

Responsibilities

The Sr CAD Designer will:

  • Utilize his experience to work with internal Kiewit organizations to set up and deploy CAD tools such as AutoCAD, Microstation, Bluebeam and others.
  • Review customer requirements and work with the Design Engineer(s) to produce electrical and mechanical drawings to support the project needs.
  • Be able to interpret customer specification requirements and develop CAD drawings in compliance with the customer CAD Standards
  • Develop and maintain typical CAD drawings that will be utilized as the starting point across numerous projects
  • Identify opportunities to optimize work and improve productivity
  • Develop and maintain an organized structure to store drawings 
  • Mentor less experienced CAD Designers. 
Qualifications
  • Ability to use Auto Cad, Microstation and Bluebeam is required. 
  • Ability to work in Project Wise or similar tool to store drawings
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong work ethic, willing to do what it takes to get the job done.
  • The ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Strong organization/time management skills.
  • Good attention to detail with the ability to recognize discrepancies.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
  • Be willing to fully participate in job assignments at the job site, district office or department to which assigned.
  • Working knowledge of computers and experience with Microsoft Word, Excel.
  • Minimum 15 years of progressive work experience and thorough understanding of the following, but not limited to;
    • Computer Aided Design tools for electrical systems
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Aided Design or equivalent work experience. 
  • Membership with active participation to professional organizations is desirable.
  • Ability to travel as business requires
