District Overview

Kiewit Infrastructure Engineering's Design Build Management team are driving clients to turn to Kiewit during all stages of design-build projects to manage their multi-disciplined design teams to improve schedule, control costs and minimize risk. Our construction-driven engineers analyze root causes and resolve design issues before they impact schedule and budget. Particularly on large design-build projects, clients benefit from the proven processes and tools used by Kiewit to minimize project risk. We are an in-house resource that supports projects throughout the company. Our staff shares experiences gained, innovative concepts, and design best practices for all projects that we support.

This position is based out of our Englewood, Colorado Office and typically requires up to 25 percent travel.

  • Work with a team of train control designers to develop a set of system design requirements for the various design tools that will be needed to complete train control design•    
  • Assess Kiewit’s current set of design tools and determine if any are applicable for train control design
  • Identify gaps between the current set of Kiewit tools and the design requirements and develop a plan to close the gaps.  
  • The plan should include at a minimum:
    • A schedule of planned activities
    • An estimate of cost
    • A list of alternative solutions
    • Lead the effort of procurement, testing and deployment for the new design tools
    • Complete a regular assessment the design tools and recommend any upgrades or replacements as necessary
  • Functional Management
    • Work with business line managers to assess needs and develop hiring plan for CAD designers to support train control projects.
    • Grow CAD design team to support business needs
    • Manage CAD design team to support project needs
    • Establish of set of metrics to assess and improve performance.
  • Ability to communicate and update status on projects
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Aided Design or equivalent work experienced required.
  • 10+ years' minimum relevant experience in electrical design.
  • Advanced knowledge of Autocad, Microstation, E3 or others 
  • Ability to travel as business requires.
  • Communicates effectively across all levels of organization.
  • Continuously improves efficiency and performance.
  • Works well with others. Involves less experienced engineers in issues to foster training of others.
  • Seeks out industry experts for advancing skill sets.
  • Actively seeks feedback from customers and takes action to improve processes. 
  • Proactively looks for solutions to improved quality, cost and safety.
