The Proposal Specialist/Proposal Writer, under general direction, is accountable for proposal activities that support selling efforts, consistent with the Kiewit Energy’s strategic plan and goals. The candidate must be a self-motivated, team player with excellent written and oral communication skills, deadline driven, and can work under pressure. In this role, the individual will support our proposal teams by writing and editing proposal content that is customer-focused, strategic, persuasive, professional, logical, organized, and consistent with messaging and branding to ensure high-quality deliverables are submitted to our clients. Types of writing materials include proposals, presentations and statements of qualification.  The Proposal Specialist/Proposal Writer will collaborate with business development managers, operations sponsors, technical specialists, and other team members to prepare responsive, compelling proposal responses. The ideal candidate has an uncompromising work ethic and take pride in his/her work products. S/he will also be impeccably detail-oriented, organized, accountable, and demonstrate responsibility for meeting deadlines and following through on commitments.

Primary Responsibilities
• Understand and interpret the technical aspects of public works RFP specific to the water industry, as well as prepare, review and/or edit RFP/RFI responses.
• Prepares the proposal division of responsibilities and works with proposal sponsor to prepare a proposal schedule that includes time for document development, all reviews, production, and delivery.
• Accountability for development of proposal content, compliance, timely submission and proposal close-out.
• Support planning and analysis of RFPs, writing and collecting customer questions, outlining proposals, conducting compliance checks, participating in proposal reviews, supporting proposal production, and participating in Lessons Learned reviews.
• Developing draft sections of proposals and marketing collateral, which includes writing original content (or re-purposing existing content from multiple sources) to produce a targeted, strategic, and persuasive sales product
• Synthesizing inputs from multiple authors into cohesive content with one voice
• Interviewing and working closely with technical experts to develop technically accurate and persuasive sales content
• Conducting internal & external research specific to markets and disciplines
• Candidates must also be able to help develop, incorporate and integrate win themes and discriminators into proposal documents and provide quality assurance checks to ensure that all document deliverables are compliant with RFP requirements
• Provide comprehensive editing by reviewing both content (for completeness, accuracy, and appropriate language) and form (for organization, visual design, and usability).
• Provide proofreading & copyediting to ensure that the document is mechanically correct (spelling, punctuation, and grammar) and stylistically consistent.
• Maintain company past performance/capabilities database and related write-ups.
• Prepare and maintain boilerplate content, including experience project profiles, resumes and key proposal sections.
• Develops templates, style guides, and other coordination documents as necessary for each proposal.
• Providing desktop publishing and working with graphic designers to develop graphics to enhance and complement written narrative
• Setup organized proposal document collaboration SharePoint site for proposals.
• Lead and participate in proposal kick-off meetings, proposal updates and milestone reviews to ensure proposal is progressing aligned with the timeline.
• Leads proposal review recovery efforts to finalize proposal and ensure an on-time quality submission
• Produce/print, package, and deliver proposals.
• Understands and implements the Kiewit Energy Group Proposal Standard Operation Procedures.
• Assist in developing and maintaining best practices and templates, data platform and style guides
• Support marketing projects as needed, such as presentations, marketing collateral development, etc.

Qualifications
• BA/BS in Business, Communication, Journalism, or English (will consider other majors as well)
• At least 3 years of related experience with an ENR Top 400 contractor or Top 500 design firm
• Excellent writing and editing skills; proposal writing background a plus.
• Demonstrated training and experience in formal proposal management processes
• Proven experience in managing the full proposal lifecycle and a track record of results
• Proficiency with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point) and SharePoint. Proficiency in the Adobe InDesign preferred.
• Excellent interpersonal and interviewing skills, ability to work well in a team environment
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize diverse workload
• Excellent time management skills and flexibility to work in dynamic environment
• Demonstrated ability to provide quality work on a deadline
• Meticulous attention to detail and consistency in work product
