Position Overview:
As a craft instructor, your responsibilities fall into three primary areas of employee training and development.  First, you are the primary instructor of ironworking craft schools.  The schools are taught at the corporate Training Center in Aurora, CO and provide students with education from non-skilled laborer to certified journeyman.  Craft Instructors teach National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) curriculum.  The Craft Instructors are the company’s subject matter expert for the craft that he or she instructs. 

Secondly, craft Instructors are the corporate lead contact and responsible party for engagement and learning for participants in corporate craft development programs.  This role extends beyond the Training Center to year-long development at the project site.  This includes support of Independent Craft Assignments.

Thirdly, craft instructors co-facilitate and support instruction of technical schools which target early career field engineers.  This instruction is provided collaboratively with guest instructors who are managers from the company’s construction operations.

The two most important qualities for a Craft Instructor are expertise in the specific discipline and a teamwork attitude. 

District:
The position is within corporate Human Resources – Operations organization.

Location:
This opportunity is based at the Training Center in Aurora, Colorado.  Up to monthly travel is expected to support project-level training, to participate in group meetings in Omaha, or to attend external training for personal development.

Responsibilities:
•    Prepare and instruct NCCER-accredited craft schools, includes attainment of NCCER instructor certification
•    Design assignments and facilitate coordination for Independent Craft Assignments
•    Provide mentoring and support of participants of the Accelerated Journeyman Development Program
•    Co-facilitate technical school programs in discipline
•    Be a team player by helping the other craft instructors, others in Talent Development and others in the company as requested
•    Assist in planning and procuring materials needed for gloves-on, shop-based instruction
•    Provide oversight of maintenance and improvements of shop designated to disciplined
•    In addition to ironworking, this role provides rigging and bull-rigging instruction

Qualifications:
•    10+ years of construction experience in the ironworking discipline, including rigging and bull-rigging
•    Strong team player and attitude to help others
•    Passion for teaching and mentoring others, especially individuals without college educations
•    Ability to confidently speak and teach in the classroom environment
•    Physical ability to perform craft work common to ironworking and rigging
•    Excellent organizational, administrative, communication and interpersonal skills
