Position Overview

Kiewit Building Group is looking for a Estimating Manager that can lead various estimates in excess of $30 million  for vertical buildings in the markets of commercial, education, sports, healthcare, mixed use, housing, government installations. Duties include but are not limited to leading a team of estimators, participating in and implementing win strategies, presenting estimates to executive management and clients, reading and interpreting documents, solicitating subcontractors, analyzing drawings and specifications, value management, reviewing and assisting with proposals, and other duties as required to prepare cost estimates/proposals for various types of work (including self-perform).

 

 

District Overview

Kiewit Building Group specializes in constructing office buildings, industrial complexes, education and sports facilities, hotels, hospitals, transportation terminals, science and technology facilities, manufacturing, retail and special-use facilities and extensive interior construction with tenant improvements. Its capabilities include general construction, construction management, design-build, design-assist and turn-key project development.  Kiewit also provides fast, accurate preconstruction project management services.   

Location

This position will be based out of the KBG regional office in Lone Tree, CO. 

Some travel will be required for pursuits in other geographical regions and offices. Position may travel up to 50%. 

Responsibilities

  • Leading a team of estimators and engineers in pursuits to get work at the right price. 

  • Task management, strategies, resource leveling and estimate close out processes.

  • Communicate and present a detailed estimate to executive management and clients 

  • Communicate and present estimates to clients. 

  • Analyze drawings and specifications to understand the scope of work 

  • Reviewing and assisting with proposals and other documentation to prepare cost estimates for various projects. 

  • Become proficient in Kiewit’s estimating program, “In Eight Estimate”. 

  • Provide leadership and strategy in subcontractor and vendor selection process.

  • Implement and adhere to policies and procedures. 

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in construction management, construction engineering, civil engineering or similar related program required. 

  • Candidate must have 10+ years of experience in the vertical building industry, mixture of field supervision and operations is preferred. 

  • At least 5 years of estimating and preconstruction experience required where you have been the Preconstruction/Estimating Manager for at least half that time.

  • Ability to lead large estimates and lead multiple teams. 

  • Passion for preconstruction and estimating. 

  • Strong communication skills both in person and virtual. Strong work ethic and self-starter is a must. 

  • Ability to utilize computers, and experienced with Microsoft Office, Excel, On Screen takeoff, other estimating software programs.  Willingness to learn new systems. Kiewit utilizes a proprietary estimating program, “InEight Estimate”. 

  • Strong organizational and time management skills.

  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team. 

  • Ability to work with limited instruction and implement successful action items.  

  • Applicant must be proficient with conceptual, design assist, hard bid and self-perform estimating. 

  • Results orientated with the ability to effectively manage multiple priorities. 

  • Must be detail oriented and technically sound with good communication skills.

  • Interested in professional development and continued education.

Base Compensation: $145,000.00 - $165,000.00

(Actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as education, experience, skillset, and/or location)
