Position Overview

Kiewit Infrastructure Engineers are seeking a Design-Build Utility Coordinator with specific responsibility for Utility Coordination and Utility Management. The primary location of the Utility Coordinator will be in the Englewood, Colorado office. We are looking for the ideal candidate to perform SUE - Subsurface Utility Engineering planning and management, utility conflict identification, utility relocation planning, and utility agreement preparation to apply a logical progression of construction knowledge in infrastructure work.

Kiewit Infrastructure Engineers (KIE) is a multi-faceted and leading-edge division of our company that offers a variety of services, including, temporary and permanent design services for current projects and new project pursuits in the United States and Canada.  Our design services group offers expertise in structural, geotechnical, civil, drainage, roadway, and materials disciplines.  Our engineering group is responsible for managing engineering assignments in support of Kiewit’s construction projects in both the United States and Canada.  As part of the engineering group, you will have the opportunity to work with other structural and geotechnical engineers, members of our interdisciplinary engineering team, as well as estimators, schedules and construction experts to provide advice on construction methodology, risk and the design of temporary works. 

Location

This role will be based out of Kiewit’s Englewood, CO (South Denver area) office. 

Responsibilities

•    Provide initial assessments of SUE requirements for a project/pursuit.
•    Provide initial assessments of utility relocations for project/pursuit. 
•    Coordinate between design engineering and estimating staff to accurately capture costs, schedule requirements, and risks associated with project utility disciplines. 
•    Coordinate and interface effectively with all 3rd party utility entities during proposal stages and follow-through during project execution. 
•    Resolve utility conflicts, clashes and work creatively and independently to manage 3rd parties as well as self-perform operations.  
•    Assist in scheduling, planning, determining craft labor levels, material quantities, equipment requirements, etc.
•    Evaluate subcontractor pricing and advise on self-perform estimates.  
•    Travel to field locations to assess project requirements during pursuit, planning, and execution phases. 
•    Participate and lead discipline specific task forces to optimize designs and economize on costs. 
•    Ensure local codes, rules, standards, procedures and programs are followed consistently and ensure the project management team is advised as to nuances and special requirements.   

Qualifications

•    At least five years’ experience working in utilities, preferably in both design and supervisory roles.  
•    Emphasis on heavy-civil and transit construction is required. 
•    Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or related engineering degree. 
•    Working knowledge of permitting processes and schedule impacts. 
•    Design experience or Design-Build project experience preferred
•    Demonstrated ability to efficiently supervise and evaluate both subcontractor and self-perform performance. 
•    Communication skills including use of project management software (estimating, plan reviews, document controls, etc. 
•    Ability to travel as business requires (35-50%)
