Position Overview

As a Superintendent, you will play a significant part in the success for Kiewit’s Northwest District. You will function as a field supervisor with responsibility crushing and batch plant operations on a construction project. You with be responsible for the organization, work methods, scheduling, cost control, conformity with specification, and assignment of work to accomplish the execution of the work, either directly or through Foremen. You will also work to maintain positive working relationships with clients, architect/engineer, suppliers, subcontractors, and jobsite staff.

District Overview

Kiewit’s Northwest District is headquartered in Vancouver, Washington. We primarily perform heavy civil projects specializing in earth moving, transportation, roadways, water resources, and underground utilities. We are looking for hard working individuals with a passion for construction who aren’t afraid to get their hands dirty! Our current opportunities are spread across the entire west coast including Alaska and Hawaii. Travel is required for this position.

Location

Responsibilities

  • Ensure safety, maintenance, and production of crusher operation.
  • Serve as organizational expert regarding aggregate materials and crushing production operations.
  • Provide supervisory direction of craft workers via the general foreman and foreman, managing the performance of productivity, safety, quality and schedule adherence
  • Consider, evaluate and recommend cost alternatives regarding various pavement structures.
  • Understanding of market conditions of pavement related materials and emerging pavement related technologies.
  • Liaison between field engineering and craft to ensure compliance of construction drawings and specifications.
  • Coordinate and interface effectively with other superintendents and subcontractors, as well as Kiewit staff personnel and leadership to ensure smooth workflow and schedule adherence.  
  • Resolve employee conflicts, grievances, and scheduling difficulties, informing project and corporate management as appropriate.
  • Assist in schedule planning, determining craft labor levels, material quantities, and equipment requirements.

Qualifications

•     5+ years’ work experience in the construction industry, with at least 3+ years in a supervisory role overseeing concrete pavement operations, aggregate materials and, crushing operations
•     Previous knowledge/experience in heavy civil construction setting required
•     Advanced knowledge of various construction disciplines, union agreements and jurisdictional issues, safety regulations, scheduling, cost control, engineering drawings and other documents 
•     Demonstrated ability to efficiently supervise and evaluate craft performance
•     Highly motivated, with a demonstrated passion for excellence and taking initiative 
•     Strong work ethic, willing to do what it takes to get the job done right the first time 
•     Demonstrated commitment to ethics and integrity 
•     Passion for safety, with the ability to help us ensure that nobody gets hurt 
•     Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills  
•     Team player with the ability to work independently to meet deadlines, goals and objectives 
•     Strong organization, time management, and attention to detail

Base Compensation: $89,174 - $137,050 
(Actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as education, experience, skillset, and/or location)
