Position Overview

The Financial Analyst will be focused on supporting a project in the areas of project management, business operations, accounting, finance, and other related reporting functions. This person will be skilled in executing processes and utilizing reporting software to create visual presentations from various types of data for executive leaders. This position will collaborate with project and district level management, providing trusted insight into the reporting and health of a project. The primary focuses of this position include: evaluating construction job costs, data reporting/analysis, budgeting/forecasting, revenue recognition, and report generation for executive management leaders.

District Overview

Kiewit's South-Central District is one of Kiewit's leading infrastructure districts specializing in heavy civil and transportation markets. Projects where these aggregate materials could be used on could include mass grading, drainage, paving, underground utilities and more. Although most of our work is regionally based in the south-central region of the United States, we also pursue various projects stretching across the United States. We are looking for individuals who are passionate about infrastructure and committed to the construction industry as opposed to engineering design.

Location

This position is project-focused and may require you to move/relocate from project to project. 

Responsibilities

  • Create, review, and update various project reports and make appropriate corrections to ensure accurate reporting for management.
  • Maintain databases and reports by entering, verifying, and backing up data.
  • Recommend actions by analyzing/interpreting data, making comparative analyses, and studying proposed changes in methods and materials.
  • Develop key performance indicators and compare current progress to historical data to study variances.
  • Prepare, review, and update weekly/monthly progress reports such as, earned value schedule progress, schedule forecasting, and executive management summaries.
  • Coordinate with project teams to assess reporting and identify risks to create accurate forecasts.
  • Drive continuous improvement for the project and be a proponent for positive change
  • Recognize the importance of being a team player by adapting to project needs and helping in other areas as needed.
  • Foster relationships with the operations team and show a willingness to learn about the work.
  • Complete additional tasks as needed by management.

Qualifications

  • Must have at least 3 years of experience working as a Data Analyst, Business Analyst, Financial Analyst, or other related role
  • Construction industry experience preferred 
  • Bachelor's degree in related field is required
  • Advanced MS Excel skills (pivot tables, v-look ups, etc.)
  • Strong technical knowledge of Power Bi, SQL, Python, and other related reporting software 
  • The ability to collaborate with various different project teams and personnel to gather data and create reports.
  • Effective oral and written communication, organization, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to recognize discrepancies
  • Positive attitude, eagerness to learn, and passion for continuous improvement
  • Ability to work well independently and as part of a team
