Position Overview
This role is linked to the management and coordination of the day-to-day on-site activities for the project, which involves establishing a Construction Control Center (CCC). The CCC will serve as the centralized hub coordinating site-wide construction activities, ensuring work oversight, schedule adherence, and efficient decision-making aligned with the safe and effective delivery of in-field project execution.
Reporting directly to the Construction Director, the Work Coordination Manager will be responsible for overseeing and implementing a system to manage work activities through the CCC. This includes ensuring alignment with the defined work schedule, adherence to safety procedures, regulatory compliance, and efficient work processes through standardized work control procedures. Responsibilities also include monitoring compliance and coordinating with various work teams to mitigate risks associated with work execution and logistics, such as heavy construction equipment coordination, traffic management, and prioritizing conflicting day-to-day activities.

Location
The position will be based on our project in Darlington, ON. The successful candidate will be local to Darlington, Oshawa or surrounding areas, or willing to relocate.

Responsibilities
The Work Coordination Manager's primary responsibilities include daily oversight of field site activities, prioritizing work execution against the project schedule through the deployment of the Construction Control Center. You will oversee a team with key responsibilities across the following areas:
- Work Oversight & Coordination
- Provides centralized coordination of all work activities across the site.
- Ensures execution is driven by project priorities and critical path milestones.
- Aligns daily, weekly, and 12-week lookahead planning with field execution.
- Owns daily and weekly schedule progress tracking to ensure execution remains on track.
- Manages minor deviations from the approved P6 schedule that do not impact completion dates.
- Manages shared resources, equipment, and tooling.
- Escalates schedule deviations and resource allocation conflicts.
- High-Hazard Activity & Permit Control
- Central oversight for all high-hazard activities (e.g., hot work, critical lifting, traffic management, exclusion zones, confined space entry, heavy equipment operations, and crane coordination).
- Manages site-wide permit control, ensuring all Permits to Work (PTW) are authorized based on plant status and workface interfaces.
- Daily Execution Management Tasks
- Finalizes the Plan of the Day (PLOD) and identifies key interfaces or required adjustments.
- Assesses progress and proactively resolves emerging issues.
- Updates on completed work and confirms the Plan of the Following Shift linked to daily Plan of the Week (PLOW) scheduling.
- Communication & Digital Integration
- Provides real-time visibility of execution progress through digital dashboards.
- Maintains the PLOD/PLOW schedule board, updated daily and accessible digitally across the project.
- Tracks schedule adherence and progress via 4, 8, and 12-week lookahead boards.
- Updates transit routes and access changes in real-time, ensuring smooth material flow.
- Ensures all site visitors report to the CCC for pre-job briefings and authorization.
- Promotes continuous improvement by identifying and implementing new practices to enhance project effectiveness.
Qualifications
- Minimum 10 years of supervisory experience in a site coordination capacity across multiple disciplines, particularly in construction.
- Proven leadership capabilities, with the ability to manage and motivate a team while monitoring performance.
- Familiarity with work control processes, including permit-to-work applications.
- Experience in regulated industries such as nuclear construction or similar fields.
- Proficiency in continuous improvement methodologies and process optimization.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with proven experience in collaborative work and stakeholder management.
- Understanding of design and construction requirements.
- Strong organizational and coordination skills.
- Advanced communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact with internal teams, partners, subcontractors, and regulatory authorities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, SharePoint, and project databases. #LI-GH
