Position Overview

As an Structural Superintendent you will play a significant part in the success for Kiewit. You will function as a field supervisor and may have responsibility for multiple Foreman, and/or laborers/craft workers. You with be responsible for the organization, work methods, scheduling, cost control, conformity with drawings and specification, workmanship, and assignment of work to accomplish the execution of the work, either directly or through General Foreman or Foreman. You will also work to maintain positive working relationships with clients, architect/engineer, suppliers, subcontractors, and jobsite staff.

Location

The position will be based on our project in Darlington, ON. The successful candidate will be local to Darlington, Oshawa or surrounding areas, or willing to relocate. 

Responsibilities

· Accountable for work planning and execution on the project including methods of construction, manpower levels, materials, tools & equipment, rentals and work schedules.

· Ensure alignment and partnering with the alliance partners.

· Monitor and review Plans/Schedules and identify risks, and issues.

· Utilize project master schedule to create detailed look ahead schedules for General Foreman.

· Responsibility for the implementation and enforcement of safety, quality and human performance programs.

· Ensures that Kiewit policies and project procedures are being adhered to and followed by project personnel.

· Monitor and manage risks, develop recovery strategies when project schedule or budget are in jeopardy.

· Assume responsibility for productivity of direct hire trade labour and subcontractors, efficient use of materials and tools & equipment and contractual performance of the project.

· Understanding and support of applicable trade agreements.

· Application of home company discipline policies and appropriate escalation of performance concerns to Construction Manager.

· Ensure trades personnel complete all necessary training in areas of safety, quality assurance, technical qualifications, equipment operation and owner specified requirements.

· Review and provide support in the creation of Construction Work Packages.

· Ensure project is constructed in compliance with drawings, specifications, Construction Work Packages and project schedule and budget.

· Interface with client representatives, design engineers, consultants, other contractors, etc.

· Ensure project is constructed in accordance with QA Programs and project quality.

· Review and approve timesheets, expense reports, vacation requests, and training requests, within Limits of Authority.

· Responsible for performance management of all direct-report employees, including: coaching/mentoring, assistance with career planning and training, preparation of yearly and mid-year performance reviews.

· Ensure all project staff and direct reports understand and comply with applicable code of conduct policies (Kiewit and customer policy).

· Perform regular field tours to check work progress and meet with project site personnel.

· Carry out site safety inspections.

· Participate in company-wide initiatives aimed at overall continuous improvement.

· Other duties as required or assigned.

Qualifications

· Minimum 10 years of civil construction and subcontractor supervision experience.

· Knowledge of all aspects of construction such as; technology, equipment, methods, EPSCA trade agreements and jurisdiction, engineering, cost control, scheduling and safety requirements.

· Experience in managing complex Nuclear construction projects.

· Ability to read and understand construction drawings, blue prints and specifications

· Must have a full appreciation of the importance of Quality Assurance Programs and their significance to the nuclear industry.

· Must understand how to support a positive Nuclear Safety Culture.

Base Compensation: $138,000/yr - $144,000/yr

(Actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as education, experience, skillset, and/or location)
