In this role, you will work with on a team with all levels of drainage engineers performing drainage design and related analyses for a variety of projects across North America including design-build, public-private partnerships (P3), and construction manager/general contractor (CM/GC). Our more Senior Drainage Engineers lead and mentor other more junior engineers and interns and may lead a project or subset of a project.  Our drainage/hydrology engineers work on an interdisciplinary team, with geotechnical engineers, structural engineers, roadway engineers, estimators, schedulers, and construction experts to perform engineering analysis and design in support of pursuits and ongoing projects around the country.

This position is based out of our new Westlake, TX office.  Opportunities for flexible work are available.  

Responsibilities

You will be part of the Drainage design team responsible for production design engineering functions which include drainage design, detailed hydrologic and hydraulic analysis (using various models and methods), and preparation of design plans, reports and technical memoranda.  Expect to be hands on involved in design, supporting plan production, specifications, estimates and other deliverables, but also leading other junior engineers/designers in their tasks.  More Senior level candidates with considerable experience on design/build projects, may also lead a segment of a project or an entire projects as well as be the Engineer of Record for final design projects. 

Typical deliverables will include: 


Analysis:
•    Perform analysis (and lead others) in Pavement drainage, culverts, storm systems, for highway and transit drainage
•    Perform (and lead others) on Stormwater quantity / quality calculations, LID, NPDES compliance and erosion control
•    Use various Software to perform analysis (examples: HEC-RAS, HEC-GEORAS, HY-8, CulvertMaster, StormCAD, CivilStorm, PondPack, FlowMaster, 2D experience helpful such as SRH-2D, FLO-2D)


Drainage Design 
•    Development of drainage plans, profiles, specifications and estimates, reports, schedules for transportation and water resources projects. This includes developing terrain, grading and other design components via models such as Inroads, Arc-GIS and other pre and post processing software packages.  (May also oversee more junior engineers/designers in these functions).
•    Software experience includes: MicroStation, AutoCAD, Arc-GIS, GEOPAK, Inroads, Civil3D, OpenRoads, HydroCAD.

 

Qualifications

•    BS or MS in Civil Engineering
•    7+ years drainage design and related analyses is required.  (Experience with either Transportation, land development, water resources or environmental projects is acceptable).  Experience leading other engineers/designers highly desired and an interest in a leadership role is required for more senior level positions.  
•    Design-Build project experience preferred;  Experience with TxDOT highly desired.
•    Must have excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to work with individuals at all levels of the organization and support project efforts.
•    The candidate will possess strong project management skills including: scope development, schedule management and earned value management.
•    Willing to be hands-on to support plan production, specifications, estimate and drainage design development and will be responsible / in charge of engineering work and will be the Engineer of Record for final design projects.
•    Must have P.E. License
•    This position includes occasional travel to project offices and work sites as needed.
