Position Overview

The Smart Materials Administrator is a key player in managing materials, supply chain operations, and field material activities within engineering and construction projects. Responsibilities include configuring and maintaining modules of Smart Materials, managing material catalogs, executing procurement strategies, ensuring data accuracy, providing user training and support, and promoting best practices. Qualifications include relevant experience, proficiency in Smart Materials/SmartPlant Materials, and strong analytical skills.

We are offering a remote option for this position if you do not reside near a Kiewit office hub location.

Responsibilities

System Administration and Support:


•Serve as the system expert for Smart Materials (SmartPlant Materials), ensuring smooth operation, configuration, and updates.
•Provide technical and functional support to users across various departments, including engineering, procurement, materials management, and field materials management.
•Troubleshoot issues related to Smart Materials functionality, working closely with KTG teammates and software vendors to resolve problems.


Training and User Support:
•Develop and deliver training programs for new users, ensuring they understand how to effectively use the system.
•Create user guides, tutorials, and FAQs to assist users in navigating the platform.
•Act as a mentor to less-experienced users, providing hands-on support to improve proficiency and system use efficiency.


Process Optimization:
•Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for process improvement within the Smart Materials system.
•Ensure best practices are followed in system usage to improve project and procurement efficiencies.
•Drive the development and standardization of workflows, ensuring alignment with project requirements and corporate objectives.


Data Management and Reporting:
•Oversee the integrity and accuracy of data within Smart Materials, ensuring all records are current and compliant with project and company standards.
•Generate and maintain reports, dashboards, and KPIs for stakeholders to support decision-making and monitor project progress.
•Work closely with procurement and materials management teams to ensure accurate and timely reporting of materials availability, inventory, and procurement statuses.


Project Execution and Collaboration:
•Support engineering and construction teams by ensuring that all materials-related data and workflows are properly integrated into the Smart Materials system.
•Collaborate with project management teams to ensure that Smart Materials is fully leveraged for cost control, scheduling, and project execution purposes.
•Act as a liaison between users and software vendors to ensure system enhancements and customizations align with project needs.

Qualifications

•Bachelor’s degree in engineering, procurement, construction management, supply chain management, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
•7+ years of experience working in Smart Materials (SmartPlant Materials) with expertise in system administration, configuration, and reporting.
•Demonstrated proficiency in Smart Materials/SmartPlant Materials (MSCM module as a minimum).
•Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to work independently and in cross-functional teams.
•Strong communication skills, capable of delivering effective training and support to users at all levels.
•Detail-oriented, with a focus on data accuracy and process optimization.
•Strong understanding of procurement, materials management, and construction workflows.
•A moderate to high level of knowledge of Smart Reference Data is a plus.
•High level of knowledge and understanding with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, etc.)
•A good understanding or demonstration of skillset with Structured Query Language (SQL) (or PL/SQL) would be considered a distinct advantage.
•Proficiency in data analysis and the use of reporting tools such as Microsoft Power BI or similar software would be a significant plus. 
•Experience with integration between Smart Materials and other systems, such as SAP, Oracle, or Primavera P6 would be a distinct advantage.
•Knowledge of international standards such as ISO or CFIHOS related to materials management a plus.

Base Compensation: $145k - $193k 

(Actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as education, experience, skillset, and/or location)

*This is a salary paid position and eligible for overtime pay if working over 40 hours per week.
