District Overview
Kiewit's South Central District is one of Kiewit's leading infrastructure districts specializing in heavy civil, transportation, and water resource markets. Projects you could be working on could include mass grading, drainage, paving, utility and more. Although most of our work is regionally based in the south-central region of the United States, we also pursue various projects stretching across the United States. We are looking for individuals who are passionate about infrastructure and committed to the construction industry as opposed to design.

This position will be based on a project site in Dallas, TX
Responsibilities
- Assessing aerial photography, geographical survey data and historical records to identify locations for potential dig sites
- Overseeing and documenting the extraction of artifacts at dig sites to maintain an accurate record and reduce the chances of damage during excavation
- Identifying items from the excavation, analyzing and dating them
- Creating computer-generated assessments and simulations of excavated locations to create estimated examples of the historical structures and civilization
- Managing staff during both the excavation work and the recording and analysis of artifacts
- Collecting data into a database and performing analysis to further understanding of the area and cultures being studied
- Writing reports, academic papers and presentations on discoveries to share information
- Assessing developer planning applications to ensure that any proposed construction will not disrupt potentially valuable archeological sites
- Developing scientific hypotheses based on analysis of data, then testing these theories through excavation, further research and analysis
Qualifications
- Meets the qualifications as described in the Secretary of the Interior’s Professional Qualification Standards for Archeology and Historic Preservation (48 FR §44716) and the Texas Historical Commission’s Rules of Practice and Procedure (13 TAC Chapter 26)
- Demonstrated knowledge of compliance under the NHPA and Texas Antiquities Code
- Experience with preparation of archaeological reports that meet NEPA and Section 106 standards and state standards particularly those of the Texas Historical Commission
