Position Overview

The Business Line Manager (BLM) is responsible for the capture of work regardless of contractual delivery model in their designated market segment and geography.  The BLM demonstrates a high degree of entrepreneurship.  The BLM must have a strong understanding of the water market inclusive of clients, their buying metrics, competitors and their strategies, 3rd party engineering partners, OEMs, vendors and both internal and external resources needed to provide the complete engineering and construction services Kiewit offers.  

BLMs work directly with business development professionals to engage with clients and establish the necessary relationships to achieve the desired capture results.  BLMs coordinate with business leaders to obtain and direct resources to fulfill proposal requests, estimating and engineering services and other entities to prepare winning proposals that support achieving desired financial goals. BLMs establish relationships and work directly with third-party engineers, joint venture/consortium partners, OEMs and vendors to build winning teams. 

Moreover, the BLM, in concert with business leaders, will lead the client engagement and negotiations once shortlisted for an opportunity through closure and handover to the designated execution team.  The BLM will conduct negotiations in concert with identified resources within the legal group.  The BLM will conduct business development activities with business development professionals and will also act independently to secure work from time to time.  The BLM will communicate with and report regularly to senior management on prospects within the designated market.  The BLM will remain up to date on technology and project execution approaches within their designated market and report to senior management from time to time on those conditions and how they may be changing or anticipated to change to ensure Kiewit remains ahead of our competition.

Kiewit Water District is a full-sevice EPC firm serving the Water market serving customers across markets on project of any scale and complexity level.  Backed by over 135 years of construction expertise our design-build capabilities are centered on constructability, commissioning, and safety in the earliest phases of projects to ensure total project success.
The Kiewit Water team at Kiewit is focused on collaborative Construction Management "At Risk", Design-Build (progressive and/or fixed price) EPC and Public Private Partnership delivery models for complex water projects.  The team brings project solutions to life across North America in the following areas:
•    Water Treatment
•    Potable Municipal and Groundwater Desalination
•    Advanced Water Reuse
•    Groundwater Remediation
•    Storm Water Recycling
•    Industrial Water Treatment
•    Wastewater Treatment
•    Biosolids Treatment
•    Pipelines and Conveyance
Clients are turning to Kiewit during all stages of design-build projects to lead and manage muiti-disciplined design teams to work together to improve schedule, track design progress, control costs and minimize risk.  We are  all working with a focus on safe, cost effective, innovate designs, and development of the best possible delivery that meets the client's goals for the project.
 

Location

Remote.To perform the functions necessary within this description the individual must be able to travel a minimum of 50%.  Travel is often unexpected and at the demands of the clients and opportunity timelines necessary to achieve the desired capture results.  A flexible schedule is essential.

Responsibilities

•    Coordinates with the District Vice Presidents to obtain necessary resources and to review and approve proposals  
•    Coordinates with business development professionals to engage with Clients and 3rd party engineering partners and act independently as needed to achieve capture goals 
•    Coordinates with proposal managers and marketing managers to produce deliverables (proposals, brochures, presentations, etc.) necessary to achieve capture goals 
•    Leads client, OEM and 3rd party engineering partner contract negotiations in concert with Operations and Legal to achieve a cohesive execution team
•    Facilitates go/no go discussions with business leaders 
•    Is responsible for all proposals in their designated market segment, their content and the process of their completion thru handover to operations 
•    Proposal review and oversight including review of project schedule, budget, cost, profitability, staffing, deliverables, procurement, and construction 
•    Ensuring business processes of review and coordination are followed 
•    Provides guidance and direction to project managers, engineers, sales professionals, proposal coordinators, estimating, marketing and sometimes outside partners as required to establish pursuit strategies, articulate value propositions and properly prepare proposals that capture work
•    Is responsible for the proposal budget and proper and efficient utilization of division resources to achieve overall capture objectives 

This position typically does not require direct oversight of professionals; however, direct oversight may be assigned from time to time to achieve business objectives.  The role does require direct coordination and influence with various entities across several businesses inclusive of, but not limited to business development, marketing, proposals, estimating, legal and management.  The BLM is responsible for carrying out management responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.

  • Education and/or Experience  

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing and/or Engineering is preferred, and at least 10 years’ experience in engineering and construction projects. Preferably a municipal water background.

Base Compensation:  $195,773 - $127,809
(Actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as education, experience, skillset, and/or location)
