Position Overview

As a Superintendent, you will play a significant part in the success of Kiewit's Southeast District. You will be a field supervisor and may be responsible for multiple Foremen and laborers/craft workers. You will be responsible for the organization, work methods, scheduling, cost control, conformity with drawings and specifications, artistry, and assignment of work to accomplish the execution of the work, either directly or through the General Foreman or Foreman. You will also work to maintain positive working relationships with clients, architects/engineers, suppliers, subcontractors, and job site staff. District Overview

Kiewit's Southeast District is one of Kiewit's leading infrastructure districts specializing in heavy civil, transportation, and water resource markets. Projects you could be working on could include building bridges, airports, mass transit systems, canals, dams, pump stations or tunnels.  Although most of our work is regionally based in the southeast region of the United States, we also pursue various projects stretching across the east coast. We are looking for individuals who are passionate about infrastructure and committed to the construction industry as opposed to design.

Responsibilities

•   Mentor and help to grow fellow Kiewit staff
•   Review and approve the balance of Foremen, journeymen and laborer's composite labor rates
•   Manage contract administration (subcontractor/field management meeting for communication)
•   Develop a program to mantain good client relations involving staff on site
•   Initiate and attend supplementary and regular meeting with client for problem resolution and planning
•   Oversee and approve the monthly job cost updates and quarterly cash flow projections
•   Review, approve and negotiate change orders
•   Develop and implement a plan for project completion and turnover
•    Mantain daily diary for record keeping purposes
•   Ensure that all performance evaluations are completed in a timely fashion for direct reports
•   Recommend, where appropriate, organizational, policy and procedural or staff changes 
•   Review and approve or reject promotions up to General Foremen

Qualifications

•    8+ years of construction experience with 3+ years being in a Structural Superintendent/Leadership capacity (preferably working on infrastructure projects such as roads, bridges, dams, water/wastewater treatment plans etc.)
•   Must be a self-starter, highly motivated with the ability to work with minimal supervision
•   Ability to quickly learn and understand various processes regarding Kiewit's policies, procedures and software programs.
•   Ability to identify and resolve any problems that may arise
•   In addition this position must have
•   Excellent organizational, administrative, communication and interpersonal skills
•   Strong experience in Leadership, safety, negotiations, planning and contract administration
•   Abilities to access all areas on a construction project site
•    Experience in pile driving techniques for steel and sheet piles on land and marine
•   Working knowledge of various hammer types (diesel impact, hydraulic impact and vibratory)
•   Knowledge of cranes, construction rigging and use of slings, cable chokers, spreader bars and multi-part load blocks, to complete crane hoisting tasks land and marine
•   Experience with marine concrete construction, forming systems, rebar installation, dewatering and concrete placement methods 
•   Ability to read and interpret construction documents and assist in planning work schedule
